Apologies!

Post  galaxy on Fri Oct 16, 2009 2:10 pm

Hey girls,

Just wanted to apologise as I have been away for a while again. I have recently started back at work and by the time I get home I feel like I have done 10 rounds in a boxing ring. As you know, I had two months off due to hyperemesis (severe vomiting) and they have thrown me in at the deep end doing 7 days in a row. Well I nearly collapsed on Wednesday, had cramping and started vomiting again. It turns out I have a urinary infection again but I am off sick again until I have seen my occupational health department on Monday. Apparently any worker who has 5 weeks off or more should be referred as they can negotiate shorter days etc and I have been trying to explain this to my boss but she won't believe me. She said she'll refer me when I have my matb1 form that we get when we are 20 weeks plus as as far as she is concerned I might not even be pregnant!! I have never heard anything so absurd. Anyway, they accepted a self referral in the end. So we'll see what happens. Just got a lot of catching up to do but I haven't forgotten you, I promise xxx

Your boss sounds like a horrible lady. I hope you get it sorted out soon, and feel better. Can't you show her a doctor's note from your GP or Midwife that shows you are pregnant??? Like a proof of pregnancy form?? That's what they have us do here in the states if we have any pregnancy issues and need to be off work.

She's had all my sick certificates that say pregnancy complications on it but we don't get our official 'MAT B1' until we are a lot further along. It must be a similar letter to what you get but I can't have it now. It's still ridiculous though, can't believe she even said it.

Seperate from the 20 weeks pregnancy issue can't you do it just based on your illness itself? If you are that ill and your doctor writes a letter saying you are too ill to work full time it shouldn't matter whether you are pregnant or not. Can you talk to someone in your human resources dept and see how you can manage around your illness if your boss is ignorant?

I am sorry you are facing all of this and hope you sat feeling better. Hang in there. [hugs].
