Egg Donation

Post  pinky on Thu Jun 11, 2009 2:04 am

I'm not sure where most of you members are from or what your laws are but I am from Australia. Here, egg donation is exactly that, a donation. It is illegal to buy, sell or swap eggs for ANYTHING at all. If your found out you will most likely go to jail.

I became an egg donor for the first time last September. I donated to a wonderful single woman in her mid 40's but so far it has been unsuccessful Cry
I am unsure if I will do it again because I feel terrible that the first donation didn't work. I know it's nothing to do with me but I still feel the connection there.

Is anyone else a donor? Has anyone thought about doing it?

You know. I think that it's a wonderful thing to help give the gift of a child to someone who fall pregnant on their own. I think it's great that you did that, Pinky, so awesome Smile/happy

As for me... I don't think I could handle it. Not because I am against egg donation, but because knowing that there is a child out there that would be genetically mine.... it would be to much for me to cope with. I would always wonder, you know? It would always be in the back of my mind.

Pinky, I think that's an incredible gift you gave. If you can handle the physical and emotional aspects of it, I think you should consider doing it again.
