Tips for TTC

Post  Mixxer on Thu Jul 02, 2009 5:12 pm

I need some clarification on some "TTC Tips":

-Does anyone know if there is anything the man can eat to help increase sperm count? Any specific foods or vitamins??

-Does anyone know what kinds of food I can eat to help increase CM? I know of guaifenesin (in Robitussin cough syrup)...does anyone know where I can get guaifenesin tablets? (Or even if they exist?!?)

-We are TTC a boy...I know all about the timing of intercourse, but does anyone know about what foods I can eat to help the boy sperm survive better?

-I know that female orgasm is important when TTC. But does it matter if it is a clitoral orgasm or a vaginal orgasm??

I can help out with this question:-

To conceive a BOY diet plan

Objective is to increase sodium and potassium while decreasing magnesium and calcium in your diet

Daily recommended supplements
~ Chlorvescent or Slow K tablets (One tablet to be taken twice daily, morning and evening)
~ Postassium Supplements (200mg per day)

Tea and coffee:
~ As desired (high in potassium).

Fruit juice:
~ 500ml per day.
~ Must be 100 percent pure fruit juice.
~ Do not drink "fruit-based" drinks, as the mineral content is lower.
~ Fruit cordial occasionally.

Mineral water:
~ 500ml per day.
~ Hepburn Spa and Schweppes are the only permitted brands.

Soft drinks:
~ Coca Cola, lemonade, tonic water etc as desired (high in sodium and potassium).

Alcohol:
~ Wine: 300ml maximum per day allowed.
~ Beer and cider: as desired.
~ Spirits: this is due to their diuretic effect, which causes excessive excretion of mineral salts.

Dairy products: (Basically forbidden).

Milk:
~ Forbidden!
~ The soya bean beverage Vitasoy is an acceptable alternative to milk when used in cooking — this brand has the lowest calcium content.

Butter:
~ Salted butter: moderate amount only.

Margarine:
~ Allowed.

Cheese:
~ Forbidden.

Eggs:
~ Whites only allowed.
~ Best avoided but may be used in cooking.
~ Do not use more than twice a week.

Bread:
~ Unrestricted.
~ White and wholemeal allowed.
~ Wholemeal bread is richer in mineral salts, especially potassium, and it also contains phytic acid, which lowers the amount of calcium absorbed by the intestine.
~ Fruit loaf (continental, made with oil and not milk) is allowed.

Meat:
~ Unrestricted
~ Ideal food: grilled or roasted preferred.
~ Beef, lamb, pork, veal, chicken and turkey are all allowed.
~ Liver and kidneys are particularly high in sodium and potassium.

Small goods:
~ Unrestricted.
~ Must be included once a day.
~ These include: ham, salami, cabana, pastrami, chicken roll, sausages, liverwurst, etc.

In regards to this question orgasm does help the sperm get where they need to be BUT they say that orgasms increase your chances of conceiving a BOY (good for you) I have never read or heard anything about what kind of orgasm though so my guess is it makes no difference!

Great! Thanks Georgi...that's a great diet plan! Do you know if it's something to follow ALL THE TIME or just during the days leading up to ovulation??

I am currently taking prenatal viatmins...they have Magnesium and Calcium...should I stop?

What are Chlorvescent or Slow K tablets?? I'm from Canada...maybe we don't have those here? I've never heard of them!! Where do you get them?

Is any type of tea good to drink? I really like green tea.

What about specific fruits or vegetables?? I've heard bananas, strawberries, and blueberries are all good to eat when TTC a boy.

We were wishing to conceive a GIRL so I took magnesium and calcium tablets aswell as folic acid but most prenatal vits contain small amounts of each so I don't think your get away from excluding them from your diet anyway to be honest a small amount is good for either sex!

The diet is something you 'should' try to follow day to day and green tea is just fine Smile/happy I drank tons of green tea when we were TTC#1 and we conceived a BOY!

We don't have Chlorvescent or Slow K tablets in the UK either so I wouldn't worry too much about them.

I found out that Apricots, Cantaloupe, Bananas, Oranges, Apples, Cherries and Pineapples are all BOY fruits Smile/happy

The secret is you basically want to create a high CM pH around 8-9.9 is deemed BOY happy!!! so eating foods that increase the pH is supposed to help create the best environment for male sperm to survive. That's why having an orgasm is also recommended as it does increase the pH and female sperm hate that!
