Aw, poor LM. I'm sure you scooped it he up, and kissed it. It sucks when they hurt themselves.

Awww, poor LM - so sorry to hear that she got hurt. And sounds like LM is teething - no fun. That is so great that you take her swimming, Tiff. Fantastic. It's not warm enough here yet to take Kian swimming, but hopefully soon. He loves playing in and with water. Smile/happy

Poor LM, I am glad she is ok. I hate it when they get hurt. Ok, true confession time, Lucy has one of those foam helmet things to wear when she starts going a little more. Our house has a bunch of 1 step up and downs all over, with hard saltillo tile floors. My husband was obsessing about her falling and cracking her head open so he had me get one.

My son was playing with Lucy last night, and he noticed when you count, Lucy counts with you. She does not make random sounds, but has distinct ones for 1, 2, and 3. Only 3 sounds close to the word lol. Last night I left the tv remote on the sofa and she cabbaged onto it. My husband saw the channels changing and she was sitting on the floor, turning in a circle on her butt, all proud of herself pushing buttons. lol. Usually when she does the spin in the circle she claps as she does it.

I just got Lucy and I signed up for swimming lessons the last part of the month. It is just to get them used to the water, not actual swimmimg. I couldn't sign the older kids up for lessons for the first session because they are still in school for all but the last couple days.

A helmet.... DM.... not a bad idea actually! I think maybe we should get one, our old apartment is full of sharp corners.

LM is walking. She can walk across the whole room before falling. I am sad and happy, it's a mix!!!

I have a video, I'll get DH to upload it today!

OMG, Dolly's momma - that helmet is toooo funny. Probably not a bad idea - but still sooooo funny. I just imagine Kian wearing it: a) he would probably hate it (as much as he likes is sun hat, lol), b) I would have to constantly giggle.

OMG, Tiff -- I can't believe LM is walking. So great!!! Did she just all of a sudden start or was she doing single steps et.c for a while. Just curious...

Hi all
CONGRATS LM!!!! so exciting

Dolly's mum- lol i had never seen those helmets before, not a bad idea , Kyrah would have never kept one on thogugh i just had to be at her side constantly at one stage as she thought she could do more than she could, but she is so steady now i dont have to stress as much .

We are good, Kyrah had her immunisations today and she was sooo good, i was so proud of her. She is also walking like a toddler now, just gets up picks up her toys, feeds her dolls, she is sooo busy and getting very independent and determined, if i dont let her walk at the shops, she will throw a little crying tantrum lol fun fun hehe

How many bottles are your little ones on still??
kyrah still has three to four as she still has two sleeps
and is anyone finding it hard to brush their teeth, kyrah will try and brush her own but tis not that good and when i try she closes her mouth "sometimes' she lest me, but its hard as she needs it as she has 10 teeth, she already has a molar

anyway hope your all well xo

It is funny, Lucy rips hats off her head non-stop - but she totally ignores the helmet. It is so very light I think she forgets it is there. And it really does look kinda cute on her.

She still drinks 4 6oz bottles a day, and has 2 naps also.

I got a little rubber toothbrush thing that slides on my finger, I have been using that to brush her 'teeth' every morning for a couple months. She sits still and likes it. My husband tried to do it one morning when he was getting her dressed and she kept putting her tounge in the way lol.

Owen is drinking 3 six ounce bottles a day but yesterday I forgot the afternoon bottle!!!! When I realized it I felt really bad but he did ok without it! Also, today he is officially on all whole milk. I've been mixing it with his formula and had decided that when this container ran out I wouldn't buy anymore! I can already see a difference in my grocery bill!!!!!

As far as brushing teeth goes, Owen generally thinks it's funny (I guess it tickles) and will usually let me brush them with no problems, of course, he doesn't have very many. My SILs pediatrician told her to lay them flat on their backs to brush them. She said it made things a lot easier because you free up both of your arms. I imagine that is how I will have to start brushing Owen's once he has a few more!!!

Chris - glad you and Emy are feeling better!

Sparkles- So far we havent had too much of a brushing problem. I brush them and then let her brush them herself for a minute. I think she just really likes the taste of the toothpaste. Kyrah is just so advanced. She sounds like Emy but they are months apart. I do let her walk in stores sometimes now,it just takes 3 times as long to get anywhere but its better than a tantrum sometimes. Now we don't use the stroller on walks, we have a wagon or she pushes her bubble lawn mower down the street. Emy doesn't take bottles yet.

We went to the petting zoo and Emy has an obsession with monkeys. She even picked out a swim suit with a monkey on it. She has a couple stuffed monkeys too, one is named "oooh" and the other is "ahhh". Like on the disney channel. She is very into animal sounds now. Shes been doing a few of them for months but now you can name like 15 animals and she points too it and then will tell you the sound. She now pees on her potty after naps, I go to change her and as soon as I get the diaper off she goes and sits on it. I just got some padded underwear cause I don't trust her with the normal ones on. I might just let her run around in the house with them on. So I'm hoping she will be potty trained by 2 hopefully. I do relish the days when she wasn't walking though, she runs now and its hard to keep pace. I'm just waiting for the day she face plants it on the sidewalk or hardwoods and we have to go for stitches.

I hope everyone is doing good. I've been debating on when to start TTC. I have some weird feelings towards it. I hear its common to worry about feeling like you won't be able to love your second baby as much as your first. But its also like I don't want to have to take time away from emy either. I'm sure if I got pregnant those feelings would go away plus I catch myself almost trying to get pregnant when I know I'm ovulating. hmmmmmm

Sparkles -- Kyrah sounds so much fun. Walking around the shops, playing independently like a toddler etc. etc. That's great. Regarding how many bottles - no bottles for us at this point since I am off for the summer and at home so I nurse Kian. I nurse him about 4-6 times a day still. He eats 3 full meals and snacks, but prefers milk over water and so I nurse him after every meal and in between. But he is still so tiny... He also has 2 naps most of the days, sometimes down to one though.

Chris -- wow, Emy sounds so advanced. I can't believe she can make all those animal sounds and stuff. And wow, on using the potty. I haven't even bought a potty yet, lol. That is soooo great. Emy also sounds like so much fun. About ttc#2, we might start in July - let's see what happens.

Lou Lou -- Great that Owen is on cow's milk all the way!! I bet you can see a difference in your grocery bill.

We also have a regular tooth brush for Kian and I don't use tooth paste with him yet. It goes better some days, but most days he just likes to chew on it, lol. He can make the sound of a fish (blowing bubbles) and he says 'banana' in German. So every time in his books he sees a banana or a fish (or a toy, or the real thing) he will say "banana" or make the fish sound - so cute.

Re: Mama and Baby's first year and beyond!

Post  dolly's momma on Fri May 15, 2009 3:52 pm

We just got home from story time. And we are exhausted! I am eating some salad, Lucy ate her lunch and collapsed in her crib. There were alot of babies there, over 20. Five or 6 older ones that could walk, alot of 6-9 month olds. The walkers were kinda cruising around the room most of the time, with one very determined crawler trailing after them (Lucy). They did a parachute, again the walkers and one crawler went into the middle lol. No fear baby! We have been awfully clingy with mom lately, but today at the library she was like ''Mom who?'' and had places to go and things to see.

The damages? She took a toy from another little girl and made her cry. Crawled right over a little boy's legs (he didn't mind but his mom was panicing) and worst of all poked a little boy in the eye (accidently).

She really did have alot of fun. She laughed out loud during several of the songs. There were just so many there!
