Sky- it was nice to hear from you and I'm totally jealous, I would love to be in europe. I totally feel you on the teething. We have 1 tooth to go and we are done til the2 year old molars come in.

We are leaving tomorrow for NY for the 4th. Emy of course has a fever, her 3rd k9 has broken through tonight so i hope thats what the fever was from, otherwise traveling is going to suck.

HI ladies. Sorry I've been MIA in this thread for a bit.

Chrisb- Welcome back Smile/happy Sorry Emy doesn't like her swimming lessons. Keep it up, and she will get there. I was a swim instructor for years and some of the kids who were most freaked out in the water were the best swimmers by the end of the summer. If she is too scared on her own, you could consider a mommy and me class. Emy is super smart! I can't believe how much she speaks and comprehends, and she isn't much older than LM. LM is still just barely starting to talk, and it isn't even consistent, it's only when she feels like doing it.

Skyllar- Glad to hear you are in Germany safe and sound. You are SO BRAVE to take Kian on that plane ride, it sounds like all things considered, he did pretty well.

MsCherry- How is Jayden doing? Is she feeling better?

Dollys Momma- How is Lucy doing?

Ginny- Don't even worry about Thane. He is healthy, and smart, and active, he will catch up in the weight department. He is so cute!

Lou Lou- Is Owen feeling and sleeping better?

LM has a bump the size of a pea at her injection site, and that was three weeks ago that she got her shots. I read that this can happen, but after 3 weeks, I would have thought it would go down more.

Anyhoo.... we swim almost every day now, LM loves it. She goes under water, and kicks her legs, and is fearless! She claps for herself after she comes up after the water, after we go under together. It's so cute to watch. She is getting better about holding her breath, although yesterday she did one of those giant "I swallowed to much water" burps towards the end of our swimming session!! LOL.

We are facing a move to Minnesota if DH gets a certain position that he is going for. It sounds COLD there, although it is so beautiful with all the trees and lakes.

So how is everyone else doing that I didn't mention above?? I miss you ladies... it's been quiet around here.

Tiff,
Jayden is much better. I'm now convinced that it was her teeth. And I'm happy to report that it looks like once these last three pop all the way out, we'll be done with teething for a long while!!! She is back to being her normal bad self. Her nights are getting later. Last night she didn't go to bed until 10:30. My sister has been keeping her up late on purpose cause she gets tired of Jayden waking up at like 7 or 8. I have now found a way to get Jayden to drink water. I have to give it to her in a regular cup with no lids. She drank about 4oz of water last night(she spilled about 8oz all over me and the floor by the time she was done). And I didn't even have to mix it with anything. It's like she feels water should not be in a sippy cup, only milk or juice. Confused

I want to get her into swimming lessons, but our schedules wouldn't allow us to go for the full time.

I took Jadah to the dr yesterday because her breathing while she sleeps has gotten so much worse, it looked like she stops breathing every so often while she slept. I recorded her snoring/breathing and let the dr hear it. He diagnosed her with sleep apnea, which is what my mom and I had already diagnosed her with. He looked at her tonsils, and then showed me them too. The girl's tonsils are about the size of two prunes touching. He gave me the number of some good ENT's so that we can schedule an appt and they can setup her getting her tonsils out. I had to get mine out, but I was like 11, so I'm a little nervous for my baby. But, at least she'd breathe better at night. My mom and I both think it might help with her appetite(or lack thereof), but the dr doesn't think her appetite is affected. But if I had the huge things back there, I would think they would slow down swallowing, which would cause the body to think it's full faster than it really is, like how they tell you to chew slowly to eat less. Duh But, he's the dr..... My poor baby is almost 8 and weighs only 47.5 lbs. She has a 4 year old cousin who weighs 61. That's just ridiculously big, but at least she's tall(about the height of Jadah, 46 inches I think). But, her parents better be careful that she doesn't become obese(if not already). Well, it's time for me to get up to get Jadah ready for gymnastics practice later. Oh, and I need to tell you all about the latest and greatest with my ex-husband who's trying to get more visitation of Jadah.

Re: Mama and Baby's first year and beyond!

Post  dolly's momma on Sat Jul 04, 2009 10:09 am

Happy Independence Day everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. It is summer vacation, and true to form the two older kids are trying to push me over the edge mentally before they have to go back to school in only TWENTY THREE days lol. Sigh. They would try the patience of a saint, and that is something I do not possess.

Lucy is doing great. She was a little cranky a day or two after her chicken pox vaccine, but baby girl is entitled. She is such a sweetheart, I wonder every day what I did to deserve her. She is starting to not want to eat baby food any more. We have switched her to the 3s, she just doesn't want to eat those #2 foods any more. Plech. And forget her Gerber Puffs and Yoghurt drops, she feeds them to the dog. The only baby snacks she will eat now are those crunchy vegtable thinkgs like cheese puffs, and some animal crackers. She is eating more and more off my plate at meals. I have her on 2/3 formula and 1/3 whole milk right now, she seems to be taking it just fine. I think her problems before must have been due to teething.

Yesterday we went to the Science Museum in downtown Phoenix. Big mistake. Everybody and their brother was there, and the ac bit the dust. It was 107 degrees out and humid for here. Packed in like sardines with little kids running amok everywhere is not the place for me to be. One exhibit had balls that were blown up in the air so they hovered about a foot above the table. She had so much fun grabbing those balls giggling and laughing. She got her first little sucker yesterday too. So funny. She ate the whole thing. I thought she was done because she just had stick in her mouth. But no, there was a tiny bit left on the other end and she started screaming as I took the stick from her. I gave it back to her and she immediately stuck the right end in her mouth, finished it, then handed me the stick without a peep lol.

Glad Lucy had so much fun at the Science Museum. Sorry it go so hot, and the ac stopped working too!!

I awoke to pure nastiness this morning. Jayden was yelling for someone to come get her from her bed, not crying but just calling out. I went in there and she had taken off her diaper and pooped all in her bed. It was sooo gross. It was all over her feet, sheet, cover, talking dog. Nothing in the diaper or her butt! I took her straight to the tub, but couldn't put her in until I could get the crap(don't excuse the pun) off her feet. I can't put her down cause it's on her feet. My sister and Jadah had to come running with wipes and a paper towels. I was soo grossed out, I wanted to puke. It was like looking at our lunch of homemade nacho supremes from yesterday. TMI So, now she's bathing in the tub, okay. I was sitting in my room letting her play and stuff when Jadah started yelling at her. Jayden had grabbed 2 of my garden tomatoes that I had ripening in my windowsill and started eating them. And of course she had oen of them just floating in her poo poo water. I wanted to scream. Hell, it took forever for my plants to yield the three I had up there in the sill. Now I had to throw two of them away. Why do I seem to have the only child who runs around doing crazy gross stuff all the time!!

Anyway, Happy 4th of July! Be safe and take plenty of pictures!!!

Angel - I didn't realize it was the flu!!!!! Feel better soon babe! I'm glad hubby has been around to help take care of the kids.

Just wanted to let you all know that Owen is finally completely well. AND he has taken his first steps!!!!! He will only take a few at a time and I have to be right there by his side but he's doing it!!!!!
So cute!

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!!!!!

Hey all, we are back from NY, and are staying home(i think) for awhile. Ahhhhhhhhh no more packing and unpacking.

Cherry, we have not had a bed poop incident yet. Although after my friends twind having a few of those issues, i makes sure she has no diaper access. During the day if I leave her in her diaper, I put it on backwards and she has yet to figure how to get a backwards one off. But jaydah is a bit older so she might be able to. How scary about the tonsils having to come out, but hopefully it will mean less throat issues in the future.

Angel- I know alot of people who are coming down with this summer flu. They are running tests on everyone that gets any kind of flu right now.

Loulou- yea!!! on owens first steps

We got to hang out with some second cousins that were around emys age( one 2 months older one 2 months younger) and emy looked like such a shrimp next to them. I guess I didn't relize how tiny she is compared to other kids her age. The funny thing is she ate 2 big meals, when they only drank a little milk the whole time. and the moms couldnt believe how much she ate. She also talked tons while neither of them said much at all. But she was also alot more active than the other 2. I almost felt like my child has adhd compared to them, they just sat on a blanket for like 2 hours, then sat in a float in the pool, whereas emy barely sat down and wanted to go talk to all the people and was swimming around/ going down the slide in the pool and wouldn't sit in a float. I never thought as emy as a spaz or anything but compared to the 2 cousins kids, I guess shes not very mellow.

chrisb,
Welcome back. Glad you end Emy had fun. It sounds like Emy was the normal, no offense to the cousins. You have a very well rounded socially developed little girl who is not content to just observe things going around her, but would rather take an active part. She sounds very intelligent as well as intellectual. Smile/happy Be proud of little Emy. Her cousins sound boring, yet I'm sure are just gorgeous little buggers. Smile/happy Bottomline, no adhd for Emy!!! Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue

chrisb - Lucy is alot like that too. She is just a busy body. I look at all those other babies contented to just hang out, but not mine. She has to go and explore and do things. It is just the way they are.

We have had a poop trauma in the crib. She had a diaper 'blow out' during her nap, and had loads of fun smearing it from here to there and back before it was discovered. Luckily I was sick at the time so my husband got to clean it and her all up afterwards lol.

Kyrah doesnt stay still for long either, she can sit and play etc for long periods of time when she wants but is ALWAYS busy and doing something, Emy is prob just way advanced!! energy, being inquizzitive ( sp) and busy are all signs of ahealthy bub dont worry

We are doing great, Kyrah is plodding along nicely, running and chating heaps more, she is communicating either through words or taking us to what she wants etc its fantastic. we out a trampoline on lay by for her for Xmas, she is going to love it, she loves my friends tramp and tries to jump all the time. as i am back working two dyas a week now, she is doing really well with my mum, no worries but my mum is away for 6 weeks in Europe. So she has been going to my MIL and best friends and she is fine, really happy and wll bahaved with them, they both said, she is so easy to look after, whish makes me feel alot better lol

How is everyone going??
well we are hoping to TTC number two before the end of the year and if we dont we will not stress i might then become a full time stay at home mum again as i was only working in the first place as i was pregnant and finishing up in dec to stay at home full time with two bubs, so when the time comes and if we are not yet pregnant i will prob quit my job anyway...BUT i will be pregnant and finish up next year anyway lol

Sparkles- we have been talking about ttc again too. I'm still just so torn, Its weird I just keep finding excuses to not do it right now. My husband is all for it and has been for awhile.

So last week before we left for NY I mentioned Emy had a fever, I thought it was from teeth. Well the fever went away and a few days later she kept getting a rash on her cheeks on and off and then her arms and legs would look sunburned then it would go away. So apparently shehassome virus called fifths disease. I swear everytime we go to the park she ends up with something. She seems fine, she just has these rashes that pop up after eating, baths or activity. She kinda looks like shes been slapped in the face.
