Tiff -- It sounds like LM is on the same kind of sleep schedule as Kian. I am at this point okay with him waking up once - so I will leave it at that for now. If he wakes more often I let him cry. We will keep having visitors so his sleep (he has to move from his room for the guests) will keep getting interrupted. One day after we got back we had DH's sister here, she left yesterday; DH's niece will come next week some time; a friend of DH with three kids next weekend, and then Sunday DH's parents. They will leave on my first day of classes - my birthday. UGH!!! (sorry, mini-rant over!!) So yes, waking once is fine for now, lol!

Kian has a pacifier in his crib and sometimes (very rarely) uses it before falling asleep - other than that he never really liked a pacifier. And bottles, well, with me being home for the summer, he hasn't had a bottle in over 3 months. I nurse him 4 times a day and he is SO NOT ready to give that up (me either, I think, lol). He only used bottles when I am work - so we will see what happens when school starts back up on my birthday, UGH! HE drinks all his other liquids out of sippy cups or out of regular glasses with straws.

We have Kian enrolled in a swim class (baby bubblers) and he seems to like so far. Sometimes he is a little bit scared, but still seems to have fun.

Ok, so last night I was laying on the sofa watching tv. Suddenly a soggy Pooh bear appeared right in my face, and was rubbed into my face with kissing noises then a hysterically laughing baby in the background. That silly baby snuck up on me and made Pooh give me kisses lol.

That is soo cute, Dolly's momma! How adorable!!

Kian loves to give kisses himself and is really gentle now petting the cat. The two of them are sooo cute together - Kian throwing little toys for the cat or waving that feather duster toy at the cat. Smile/happy

I hope everybody else is okay!

Post  skyllar on Fri Aug 28, 2009 11:24 am

Wow, this thread has been sooooo quiet. Well, I'll post anyways....lol.

It was my birthday yesterday and we had a nice day. The ILs left in the morning and it was my first day of teaching for the new semester - so it was quite hectic and busy. But, DH and Kian picked me up from work and they had put flowers on the table and put all my gifts on the table. It was so cute. Then we went to the park with Kian and ordered my favorite Chinese food out. It was agreat little birthday celebration thanks to Kian and DH.

Kian is getting his first molars. He has been very cranky and whiney and clingy and I can see one has poked through and the other one is just about to poke through. Luckily, the teething has not inhibited his sleeping through the night (????????) (lol, not complaining at all, just wondering) which hes has been doing consistently for a week now (YAY!!!!). He finished his swimming class yesterday and got a little certificate that he is carrying proudly all around the house. Very cute.

I hope everyone else is doing fine.......miss you, ladies.

It was your birthday Skyllar! I feel so bad!! DH has been doing a huge paper for school and I totally spaced it!! I hope it was a lovely day sweetie!!!!

LM is also getting her molars in! ALL FOUR OF THEM. It has been a very painful process for her. All sides of her top two molars have broken through, which has brought some relief for her. Only one side of her bottom molars have poked through, she is working on the other part of those bottom molars. It is so hard. They are so clingy and whiny.

Congrats on Kian sleeping through the night!!! LM is still waking up between 2 and 5 in the morning. I just give her something to drink, and she goes right back to sleep.

How is everyone else doing??

LM is now obsessed with shoes. She manages to say the s-h sound when referring to shoes, and she puts on my husband's and my giant shoes and tries to walk in them!! LOL.

How is everyone? It feels like I only have time to read up on posts, and give a quick update of my own these days, but not really much time to comment about others' posts.

Jayden is a little hellion. I fuss, yell, and pop her butt all day every day. But she's also funny, compassionate(rare but it's there), and smart. Her understanding is through the roof, yet her talking is not quite there yet. She still eats, drinks, and poops all day long(no understatement). I feel like I'm back to the newborn stage where we changed poopy diapers like all day. I had more to say, but I'm tired. We've deep cleaned the entire house(except Jayden's room), and I've cooked for today and tomorrow's lunch. I just finished hand washing my truck at freaking 9pm. I should feel bad, since the only reason all this was done is because DF's mom and boyfriend fly in tomorrow. I didn't do all this preparing when my mom flew in to visit. Oh well, my house AND truck(especially the truck) needed a good below the surface clean anyway. I'll still be around, but don't know how much yet. Take care.

Thanks, Tiff, galaxy and mscherry for the birthday wishes!!! We did have a nice evening after my first day of work for this semester. DH and Kian made it special! Smile/happy

Tiff - sorry to hear LM is teething, too. Hopefully she will get those molars quickly. That is funny about the shoes cause Kian likes to put everybody's shoes on, too (his and everybody else's). Especially cute when he puts on DH's flip flops (he actually pokes the thong part between his toes - so cute).

mscherry - Jayden sounds so cute!!! Have fun with DH's mom - I totally understand about the cleaning. Since we got back from Europe we almost constantly had visitors (DH's sister, my ILs, DH's niece and her BF - who are still here -- and next weekend the ILs are coming back) - and boy did we do a lot of cleaning...... hehehehehe

Hi to everybody else!

Sky. Happy belated birthday, it sounds like your "boys" made it special for you.

I haven't been on here it seems in awhile but it looks like everyone else is MIA too for the most part. I have been trying to keep Emy busy these days. We are only doing 1 nap now, so we are out of the house alot more. The weather got cooler too so we can go outside more. I have signed Emy up for kindermusic classes and gymnastics for the fall so i can get her out of the house and around kids her own age.

OK so here's a weird thing. Emy is suddenly allergic to tomato sauce. Shehas been eating since shewas like 7 months, never hada reaction. I am only BF once a day now but ever since I cut down shehas been reacting to sauce. Anywhere it hits her skin she gets red. Anyone heard of this. So weird.

Well I hope everyone is well. Oh I put some swimming videos up of Emy on FB if your interested.

The funny thing is Lucy has started having a skin reaction - and I also think it is the tomatoes she has been eating lately. And they never used to bother her either.

Re: Mama and Baby's first year and beyond!

Post  Lou Lou on Wed Sep 02, 2009 12:55 am

Hey y'all!
Sorry I haven't been around much lately. We just got back from Chattanooga late Sunday night and I've been playing catch up in the house ever since. This was Owen's first big trip and he did GREAT! He did not sleep any in the car (7 hours) but he played in the backseat! He slept 12 hours each night in the pack and play and took a good nap in the afternoon. I was so proud of him!

Skyllar! I am SO sorry I missed your birthday!!!!!! I usually try to keep up with it on Facebook but I was away from the computer too much. I am truly sorry but I am so glad to hear you had a great day!!!!!

Chris - Owen is allergic to tomatoes too. I guess the antiboties she has received from you all this time helped supress the allergy? Owen gets a red rash around his mouth. The doctor said he will probably outgrow it. I think it's a fairly common allergy and seems to go away with age. My brother had it but by 7 or so it was gone.

Not much going on here. Owen is cutting a top and bottom molar - he still only has his 4 top teeth and two bottom teeth and now the molars. He can give five and he can blow kisses. So sweet! He is VERY vocal..... he talks non stop. I have no idea what he is saying but it seems very important to him!!!!

My DH and I seem to be going through some stuff. Sigh..... we are always going through some stuff. I love him very much but I often wonder if he loves me the same. I seem to be very low on his priority list and it's very difficult to engage him in conversation. I guess I don't have anything important to say. I told him that he makes me feel stupid and he said that he doesn't control my feelings - if I feel stupid then that's my problem - not his. I asked him his opinion on a subject tonight and he told me he didn't have one. I take that to mean he doesn't care enough about what I'm asking to think about it and form an opinion. We had a stupid fight and now we aren't speaking.
Sometimes I wish I could just walk away. I wonder why I didn't walk away years ago. And now I have Owen - and that changes everything.

But life goes on, eh?

I guess I just needed to vent.

I don't know if your kids are allergic to milk or cheese or anything, but i know that some spaghetti sauce, they put cheese in it. That was our problem with Jayden.

Kids can develop allergies at any point in time, it's very strange. When I was a kid, I always got an itchy throat from eating walnuts then when I was 19 I suddenly was so allergic to them that my throat closed up and I was rushed to E.R.

I need to get some more cleaning done, but I'll post more later!!

xxxx

Chris -- thanks for the birthday wishes! That sounds so great, those kindermusic and gymnastics classes. Kian is also down to 1 nap, so there's definitely more time. I LOVED the swim video - also commented on FB, but say it here again - amazing how she is swimming!!!

Lou Lou -- Glad to hear you had a great trip and Owen did so well!! I hear you on the molars - Kian just got one and is cutting the second. And so funny about the non-stop talking, hehehe. Kian does that, too and looks at us like we must understand. I am so sorry you and DH are having a rough time. Big hugs to you (((Lou Lou))). I hope you are feeling better today.

Chris, Dolly's momma, mscherry -- that is so interesting about all those reactions to tomato. hmm, at this point Kian loves fresh tomatoes from our garden and I haven't noticed any reaction, but I will keep my eyes open.

AFM, I have been working like crazy - what's new, eh? - on my dissertation (days and nights, with a few hours to sleep since I am back to work, too) and I submitted a 200+ page paper to my committee. Yay! It looks like I might get my PhD after all in a couple months. That's much needed especially as I already got hired as professor. New semester is going okay so far.
Kian is doing great - he is so much fun. Loves to go to the playground, help with anything around the house, babbles all day. He is sleeping through the night (has been for 2 weeks now), yay!
