Cautiously optimistic Empty Cautiously optimistic

Post  lindzee Tue Jan 19, 2010 6:11 pm

Hi Ladies,

Sorry to keep you all in limbo, but I am being cautiously optimistic.

I did an HPT on Sunday on a dollar store cheapie and got a faint line. It made me go out and buy a FRER, which showed up definitely positive. Smile/happy

So I went and got my blood taken yesterday and the nurse called me today to tell me the levels were 50, which the nurse initially said was low. I was very disheartened, but then she called back and said that my OB said that was "normal" for being still so early....just over 4 weeks. So now I have to go every two days and get my blood drawn to see if my levels double like they should. So please send tons of sticky vibes as I am hesitant to be too excited yet.

I also have an early u/s booked in two weeks.

So keeping fingers tightly crossed until then and hoping for the absolute best. Thank you all for thinking of me and sending messages and being so supportive. I really appreciate it.

Thanks so much ladies! 50 is not that bad of a number is it?! I don't know about Dr. Googling right now... :S

You are right Tiff, I will just relax and know that it is out of my hands. Stressing over this will not help.

I am being positive and telling this little baby to grow and grow!

Lindzee, stop Googling right now! I mean it. I've heard more than one lady say it did nothing but scare her. It's not about the initial beta number. It's about it doubling. It's supposed to double in 48hrs? Well that's a guideline too.

You other mommies/mommies-to-be can chime in here and say the same thing (or tell me if I'm wrong, lol).

CONGRATS!!!! (((HUGS))))

So what did hubby say??

Thanks for all your support Beth!! Smile/happy

Congratulations Lindzee, you are P.R.E.G.N.A.N.T!!!!! I know you are being cautious at the moment but when I had my levels taken (I think 12dpo) they were lower at just 7 and I am still pregnant now and everything is fine with baby. I will try and find out exactly how many dpo I was but I think 50 is normal, but got my fingers crossed that you seet those figures rise xxx

OMG Lindzee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy for you! I'll tell you why the nurse told you those numbers was low, because MOST of the patients she see's don't chart and temp as obsessivley as us,nor do a lot of them know when their testing date is and even more call the dr's office about a week after you did and go in,by which time of course (as they double every 48 hours) the numbers are mcuch higher. You're only just a tiny bit preggers (giggle) which is why it was so low so soon, positive thoughts,it's totally normal! You are pregnant and it's SO exciting. Thanks for sharingyour journey with us.I can't wait to follow it through pregnancy, baby and beyond! lol hugs! xxx

Thank you all so much for the lovely positive messages girls. Smile/happy

You are all so encouraging and it really does help.

I went and got my blood taken again [this time my arm didn't bruise as bad as the other one did on Monday] and I will find out the results tomorrow. Not sure if I should keep calling my OB's office to find out the numbers or not? [Don't want to be annoying, but I do want to know]. They want me to go every other day until they say so. LOL. Sounds funny.

And Angel, thank you for saying what you said about the beta compared to most ladies calling later on in their pregnancy than us charting girls. I know where I am in my cycle and i know it is still early days. So thank you for reminding me of that and bringing it up.

Emma, thank you also for telling my about your first beta level - I think I remember you posting about that. I def remember your OB saying your progesterone wasn't high enough and that you didn't ovulate! HA to him! Tongue

Georgi, thanks for the note. Hope your babe comes soon!!!!

I will keep you all posted. Thank you once again!! Grouphug

Praying everything is going to be ok for you Lindzee. Yes, you are right about the progesterone, it was low and stayed low when I got my beta done too. Shows how much the 'experts' know sometimes. This is such a worrying time especially when you've had such a long wait. It was about the same amount of time it took us to get pregnant with Molly, which eventually was right after a lap and hsg. I couldn't stop crying bu then started having cramping and they thought I had an ectopic pregnancy. Got my fingers crossed for you xxx

Lindzee -- I have no experience whatsoever with these numbers. With both pregnancies I didn't see a doctor until after I was 13 weeks along. So I really won't be any help whatsoever. But, i just wanted to post to tell you that I am praying that everything is alright and that I am sending big hugs ((((Lindzee)))) your way. Please keep us posted. I really got my fingers crossed for you. Women's bodies do react quite differently to pregnancy; so everything might just be fine.
