I'm going to Colorado!!
Hubby called me yesterday at work and told me to mark off time in September 2010.....because we're going to Colorado to see the Motocross of Nations race! We missed the announcement earlier ( ) but he read about it. I'm so excited!
The Motocross of Nations is an annual event which changes location every year but is held primarily in Europe. Countries form 3-man teams which compete in three motos (races) with two men in each race. Lowest score is thrown out, the remaining 5 scores count and the highest point total wins. So having one good rider simply isn't good enough; it really is about the Team. The Team USA has traditionally been dominant in this race but many other countries have very good riders as well, many of which already compete on the US race circuit. Some of the top riders here are from Italy, France, New Zealand, the UK, and Australia.
The US was awarded the MXoN in 2007, the first time the US had had the race in about FORTY YEARS! So MrG and I planned our trip (it was held in Maryland) for a year prior because we knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip. It was an incredible experience and the amount of foreigners who travelled there was astounding. The attendance was greatly underestimated I think (particularly the number of campers and RVs!).
So now we have the chance to see it again. I'm simply amazed that the governing body awarded to the US for the 2nd time in 4 years.
So it's still 10 months away but I'm excited! I've only been to Colorado once and that was on my honeymoon. We'll be driving, of course, and will make an extended trip out of it. As usual we'll be taking our travel trailer, our own dirt bikes, and our dog Morgan. This will be Morgan's 2nd MXoD! What dog can say that? LOL!

Trips are so wonderful. I haven't been to Colorado in a long time but I do remember how beautiful parts of it were. I would be excited too.
