Momma Bear's baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is Momma Bear's DH. Our son was born 30 March 2010 at 7:26 pm. He wieghed 9 lbs and 13 ozs and measured 21 3/4" at birth. I don't know the conversion for stones or kilograms but suffice it to say he was a big baby. Both are doing well. His name is Samuel Anthony.

Hey girls,

Thanks for all the well wishes and congratulations I wasn't sure when I would actually be able to post so I had DH leave a message. I will have to post my birth story later (it is a doozy) but I did want to get some pics up for you to see.

Here is Samuel Anthony on his birthday. He still had a lot of vernix when he came out since he was early. The doctor said if we would have waited he would have easily been an 11 lb baby.

Meeting big brother


The night before we were to be discharged from the hospital the nurse taking care of Sammi came down and said that he heard a murmur and had anyone said anything. He couldn't find anything in his records. I met the nurse from a lactation class we had taken with Isaac and knew he was a neo natal nurse so it freaked me out that no one else found it. Not even the pediatrician. Our was on vacation so it was a stand in. So Bob (the nurse) measured his oxygenation levels and his blood pressure in all his limbs and said it was great but they would probably want to do an echocardiogram in the morning. They did the test and sent it to Children's to be read. Sammi has three holes in his heart. One small hole in the atrial wall between the chambers and two in the ventrical wall chambers. We really don't know more than that at this point. Sometimes they can heal themselves but we have an appt. with the pediatrician on Monday and we will most likely have to go to childrens to find out what is really happening.

And as if all of that wasn't bad enough. I noticed that his eyes were red the day after but didn't think anything and then when we got him home his eyes were swelled and I eventually realized they were swelled shut and starting to blister. Thankfully I remebered over hearing a nurse say they use an erythimiacian (sp?) cream on their eyes to keep out infection. My DH has an allergy to that antiobiotic so I called the pediatrian, told them my theory, and the Physicians Assistant had us come in. She thinks I was right and gave him some drops and medicin for the swelling. So his eyes are finally opening and I can see his baby blues again. Lets just say it has been a long few days but hopefully when I can get us back into a routine I will be able to keep up with all of you. I will keep an eye out for any new arrivals and good luck to you all.

OMG Mommabear, what an ordeal honey. I'm so sorry to hear about Sammi's holes in his heart, that is so rough. My prayers are with you, and what a blessing that they caught the problem early one.

Wow, Mommabear! It sounds like you've had a rough but joyous few days! I am praying for Sammi and asking God to just close those holes up!!!! I hope the swelling is gone soon and I hope you are recovering well too.

First off,congrats hunny!I am sorry you have been through this frightening ordeal.I hope that ( and have heard that it happesn quite a lot) the holes heal themselves,he is still young and as you said born early.He is a nice size at least which means he is stronger and will be able to deal with things like that.I hope you can all rest and have lots of nice bondingh time.I hope you will get good news and that he continues to heal.He is adorable!Big hugs to you sweety! xxx

MB, He really is precious! Good thing he wasn't in there too much longer or he would have been a big babe!! [Or bigger should I say??] I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and praying for you that everything will be okay with your precious little one and his heart. what a scary thing to have to go through.
