Well, I can't wait to ttc in the future :-)

Post  Toffee on Thu Oct 16, 2008 5:26 pm

No one has posted here?

I guess I'll be a loner, ah well!

I'm WTTC. I've just finished my History degree and I'm going to be doing teacher training next September. Then it's a case of getting married and making sure me and bf are stable on many levels; emotionally and financially.

I don't want to wait more than six or seven years. I want 2 kids before I'm 32, and then maybe have a third before I'm 35! Bf knows how broody I get. At one point I actually had to write a list for the reasons why I shouldn't have a baby now.

I think you are being very sensible and mature about your desire to have a baby Toffee, at times the feeling can be overwhelming and very difficult to deal with especially when people around you seem to be falling pregnant all the time (that's what happened to me) but I did the same as you although I REALLY wanted to start a family, I partied hard, travelled, accomplished career goals and personal goals and enjoyed being selfish BEFORE we started TTC!!!

Erm is it just me? This post appears to be backwards i.e the last post is at the top and the first post is at the bottom?

Toffee, I know how you feel. I've been broody(I like that term! never knew there was a word for it!) since I was 18. Sometimes I could step back and realize I wasn't ready, but other times it seemed like everyone but me was having babies. One of my old circle of friends actually didn't tell me she was pregnant and made everyone else keep it from me so I wouldn't be upset. I found out when she was in the hospital giving birth! Of course, that just made me feel like crap.

Wish I knew a way to stop the broodiness. The only cures I found was living 6 months with a 1-year-old who screamed constantly at every little thing - that put me off for a good year when I was 21 - and watching some friends of ours lose their 4-month-old to SIDS.

The last year's been the worst. I knew from the start that my fiance was The One, but he wanted to wait until we were engaged - and wanted to wait on the engagement for appearances sake. I followed all the TTC and pregnancy threads and such, despite the fact they made my heart ache. I understand how the TTC12+ months gals feel about everyone else announcing their pregnancies to some extent. While I can never know the pain they go through, I was jealous of them because at least they were able to *TRY*.

*sigh*

I feel this regularly - wanting to conceive that is.
But I'm also like you, I want to do things in certain order.
One ofcourse, is to be married first. And enjoy my marriage for a bit and just let it happen naturally, unplanned...if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. But of course it all takes time...and my clock ticks loud.

KB, you're only 34 you still have time! Have you discussed it with your partner?

At the moment I feel like I won't be able to wait more than 4 years, but I can't plan so far ahead. I won't be a teacher until the summer of 2010, and I'll have to do a couple of years of that before we even think about about ttc.
