The Cops Killing thing seems strange

I'm not usually one for conspiracies or anything like that. But somthing does not "feel" right with this. Four cops are gunned down in a coffee shop while doing early morning paperwork. They think they have suspect, but won't say how they know this. They surround the house they think he's in, come to find out, he's not. Then, update says they found him in a stolen car, told him to stop, he wouldn't so they shoot and kill him. Is that even legal? I mean, if he did indeed kill those cops, he deserves punishment, but dang, kill him on the spot? It seems to me that they wanted to hurry up and get their man, no matter what. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it just feels funny to me is all.

I haven't followed the story close enough to know all the details. I'll have to google it and look at what's been going on.
I hate that he killed those cops and I hate that they felt they had to kill him to stop him..... it is all so senseless.
