Google Bot?

i was just curious, what the Google Bot?? like sometimes when you log on and look at the "whos online" section on the main page, it will say so many registered, so many hidden, so mant guests, and 1 bot. and then below the list of registered users on it will say Google Bot. lol, but its only there half the time, so i was just wonderin what it was :?:

It means Google is scanning the site and putting together keyword lists and such for it's search engine.

Yes,Also,I THINK it might show up when people find us THROUGH google but not sure.Google send s out what they call 'crawlers' to check your site n get info like Myste said.
