Anyone flown in pregnancy?
Hey, I am just wondering what people's experiences are of flying whilst pregnant. I have been invited to stay at my parents near Paris for a long weekend next time dh works nights and although I know that I am allowed to fly at 31 just looking for a bit of reassurance from people who have 'tried and tested it'. I really think the break will be good for me as my parents will allow me to go out for a swim and meal with my sister or have lie ins etc but obviously have at the back of my mind that I don't want to end up in hospital. I will be 31 weeks and the flight is just one hour.
Re: Anyone flown in pregnancy?
I have flown in pregnancy this time and last time first time was around 16 weeks and second time was around 21 weeks, I suffered no problems apart from some light bleeding/spotting but this can happen to a non pregnant woman when flying. Obviously being that much further on I highly recommend you wear inflight socks and get up and move around as much as possible, granted it's a short flight but you still NEED to ensure you move around You may find that you feet swell so wear comfy shoes!!!!

Thanks Georgi! In all honesty I have decided against it as I just have this uncomfortable feeling at the back of my mind. Would have loved the break but I want to stay in my comfort zone as I have formed good relations with my caregivers here and that makes me feel safe. We will get the chance to go over once the baby has been born x
Re: Anyone flown in pregnancy?
I agree.Even if 'they' say you can,you havn't had the most comfortable pregnancy and I think it would be wise to stay near where you are comfortable and know you are close to dr's at this stage in your pregnancy! You can go to Paris when baba is born! xx

I definitely say trust your instincts. I flew from DC to Nashville and didn't have any prolbems but it was a really easy pregnancy.

I think unless you absolutely have to it would be better not to fly. (as you have already decided) I think the flying cut off is 32 weeks, so you are really close to that. I flew at 20 and 24 weeks when my dad died. It was a 3 hour flight and not too bad. The worst thing was the woman across the aisle from me on the trip there had the flu and puked a few times - I was worried I was going to catch the bug.
If you do change your mind again definitely ask your doctor about it, he/she may not allow you to anyway.

Re: Anyone flown in pregnancy?
Like you said DM, I would be very close to the cut off mark and they set that for a reason. Also some airlines say 28 weeks and they must have their reasons for that. My Mum said, if something happens then it's serious no matter where I am but I'd rather it happened at home. If it was a case of needing to go somewhere then I would but it's just for leisure. I'm happy with the decision I've made now, feel less stressed. Thanks for your comments, it's good to know people agree and I'm not just being over sensitive
