Please say some extra prayers

I had to take my baby girl (kitty) into the vets this morning as she hasn't been herself all weekend long and has been losing weight and drinking loads of water but apparently peeing it out faster then she can take it in.

They are keeping her over night on IV. She is Very dehydrated. They said she is 10% dehydrated and that 12% dehydrated she would have died. They are going to also run some blood work and then go from there on Xrays.

They are hoping and praying that it is a Thyroid problem or Diabetes. But they are also testing for Heart disease and Kidney disease and I think maybe one other thing... My poor baby they weighted her and she is down to 4.6 lbs from all of this.. They did say her thyroid felt big and that she has a heart murmur which they say goes hand in hand with thyroid and again praying this is what it is because it is treatable with medication for the rest of her life but treatable.

So I get to go back in tomorrow at 1:20PM to get her and hopefully hear all good news. I am so scared and hate that I have to go back by myself to deal with this. I can't do anything right now as I am just so worried and stressed. I just want to go to sleep and sleep til I can go get her, I miss her so much.

I am going to call around 4ish to see how she is doing, so I will keep you all updated on what I hear. Please keep the prayers coming, I appreciate them so much..

I will be praying for you and your little kitty. I have two sweet dogs and I understand how important a pet can be. They really do become members of the family. Hang in there.

So I just called to check on my little girl, and they said she is resting comfortably getting the fluids... They tried to feed her but she wasn't ready for it, but problem is they gave her soft food and she hates that stuff, she has never had it and the times she has had it put in front of her, she looks at us like we are trying to poison her or something..lol So she is going to let the girls know and I imagine they will try her on a little dry.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, please keep them coming strong, they have done the blood work but results won't be in til tomorrow and that is what I am so afraid to find out being by myself there scares me.... Praying tho for the best news we could ever ask for, I swear I would give my life for hers if I could...

I spoke to Amanda jjust now,she is too upset to post but the vets says her kitty has failing kidneys,they are still hopeful that she might pull through but she is very sick.I believe Amanda is going to go and see her as I write this and they are going to keep her another night and then if she's well enough,send her home with lots of medication and see how she does. I will let you guys know if she tells me anymore she aksed me to post a little update.

amanda had asked me to update today on her little girly, this is her most recent FB status update:

"Hubby just spoke with the doctor and Calypso ate over night finally and is perking up some. Apparently they have to be very fast at putting her food in with her now as she tries to kill them when they put their arms in the kennel....lol That's our Girl, make me proud...."

she also said that she is by no means out of the woods yet but that we are all praying she fights through this!!!

I have been lurking but wanted to let you know my prayers are with you. Furry friends do become such a part of our family it is so hard.

Oh I am so sorry, I haven't posted. Thank you so much Holi and Nika for updating for me, I so very much appreciate it. It has been so time consuming lately with everything, I have to sneak away to Pee....lol

It is going ok with Calypso. We have her on some meds. She gets a 1/2 a Heart pill everyday and 1 supplement pill twice a day and some of this powder stuff mixed in a syringe with some water twice a day (she doesn't mind that) and then we give her IV fluids once a day, about 100ml which takes about 5 minutes and she absolutely hates that and I could cry every time we have to do it to her. The last 2 times we have done them she has thrown up but it is just from her getting so worked up over it all.

She is sleeping ALOT. And wants to right on us most times but she is eating and drinking which is good.

We have to take her back Thursday night for some blood work to see if she is making a progress with all of this or not, praying she is....

That is about it, that I can think of so far, I am so wired and such I had to ask my Mom this morning if we were still in February because I swore we were now in March...lol

awww,thanks for the update hun.I knmow you are so busy,I also know how traumatic it is when you are trying to nurse one of your 'kids' back to health and i know to you they are like kids.I know yo HATE giving her the IV because it's so traumatic.How awful for you.Lets hope you don't have to do it for much longer and that she recovers well,at least she is eating and drinking whic is alwasys a good sign with animals. I am thinking of you still!

It is with a very heavy and painful heart that I am informing you all that Calypso is no longer with us... She is in a better place now where she is running free from all her troubles...

She was doing great with the whole routine she was on, but this morning she started to get really wobbly on her feet and could barely stand on her own with out falling over. Hubby and I spent 2 hours on the bed with her loving her before taking her in to the doctors. They weren't sure what was causing this for sure but thought it was her heart and that she may have had a blood clot go to her lungs and make her very unstable and at the same time her breathing was not good. They said her breathing was like that of a person having an asthma attack..

We could not put our precious little girl through anything else, she was already going through alot getting medicated 5 times a day and IV fluids every day as well.

I am not sure when this pain will end, I feel so numb and it hurts just to breath.. She was part of our lives and always will be and will be missed and loved more then words could ever say... I am not sure how to get her sister through this, I am sure she is already starting to notice her baby sister not here with her anymore.. :-(

R.I.P Calypso, you will always be with us and close to our hearts..

Awwww, I'm so sorry honey. I know it's tough losing one of your fur babies like this. You probably remember we lost my dog Zoe in 2007 and then Shadow in Dec. 2008. It hurts but Calypso is in a better place now. Hug your other kitty and treasure her. Thinking of you. (((HUGS)))

Thanks Beth. And I do remember you having to go through that too. It is not easy at all, very tough to go through. They become a huge part of the family... Thanks again hun. Miss you

So sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved kitty. They are definitely family and it is so hard to let go. I think that pets should live as long as people do so we don't have to go through this. *HUGS*

Thanks so much hun.. And I agree they should live as long as us.. Pets our so innocent and should never have to feel pain...

Bless your heart, I know (from experience) that making the decision to take your baby to the vets must have been extremely difficult....but the decision was selfless and just goes to show how much you truely loved her. Your pets become part of the family and it's just awful losing them, I have cried more over my pets dying than 'some' family members whom have passed over!! Be strong....your other little girl needs extra cuddles and she will help you heal x x x x

Thanks babes... I feel like I am in a bad nightmare and I am just praying I wake up soon....
