Clothing/identity dilemma Empty Clothing/identity dilemma

Post  Georgi Tue Sep 30, 2008 7:33 am

I am having a dilemma at the moment, well ever since Theo was born really but it's got worse more recently as I am being invited to more social events. I used to have a identity when it came to fashion, I had my own style and many people complimented me on it BUT since becoming a temporary stay at home mum, I seem to live in jeans and t-shirts and this really isn't me at all, I feel un-attractive and lost. Many of my tops I used to wear outside of work seem too short now and I hate showing off my tummy, unless I purposly wear a top that is 'meant' to show off my tummy.

I still have lots of lovely 'work' wear like high waisted skirts and silk blouses (I am into 50's fashion) but as far as casual clothing goes I feel like a pikey.

Does anyone else feel like this??

I am going to sort out all of my clothes and shoes and stick them on ebay with a view of replacing all of it with the cash I make!!

LMAO! 'a pikey!" sweety, you couldnt look like a pikey if you were wearing a rubbish bag! You rock everything you wear coz you are naturally gorgeous!BUT!!! I totally undertand how you feel and if ever there is a time to give yourself a 'revamp' in the clothing/hair whatever you feel department, its after having a baby.

This next paycheck,I intend to go the hairdressers and the one after that, clothes shopping,it seems I have nothing to wear either.I am still wearing my maternity shorts and some stuff because I am not QUITE down to size in the legs and bum and some things feel too tight.

When I go shopping I want to get some 'chic' stuff like almost suit style clothes.I have ordered some sheer converage mineral make up and want to start looking sharp and sexy instead of SAHM!Not that there's anything wrong with it,but I think it's important to feel beautiful for ones self.I think what you're doing is a fab idea Georgi!Treat yourself with what you get!

hugs!

Oh gosh, Georgi, I want to start by saying that I think you look utterly gorgeous. You are such a natural beauty, and you could literally wear a rubbish bag and look hot, just like Angel said.

However, I can relate to how you are feeling. I always used to look so cute, keeping up on my hair and such, and now I have roots galore and I don't even have any cute trousers or anything. I don't want to buy new ones until I lose more weight. I did invest in some new tops, but they are just plain colored, and I really want some cute outfits and new dresses.

I definitely think you should treat yourself to some new clothes and such.

Hugs sweetie, you are one yummy mummy.

lol! i know exactly how you feel!!! i hate all my clothes, i have a couple of pairs of jeans i love but when it comes to the tops, i got nothing! i mean i have got quite a few nice tops but i have no hope of trying to get my boobs into them!
I dont usually get out of my pjs until kiers goes down for his first nap as things here in the morning are full on!
I want to go shopping and get a few nice tops but financially we cant afford it at the mo so i have been just accessorising with belts etc, its amazing the difference it can make to a plain outfit!

I can totally relate.
Between my big butt and my over sized breastfeeding boobs I look terrible!
I have purchased a few things too but I feel fat and frumpy in them all! All of my "old clothes" were dressy or business casual so they aren't really appropriate for my day to day use anymore but still.... I love dressing up! I seem to live in work out pants these days!
I think we all need to find ways to treat ourselves occasionally!

I am so glad that I am not the only one feeling like this! I am going shopping on Saturday so hopefully I can pick up a couple of things to re-vamp my wardrobe.....until then I will slip on my jeans and possibly OOoooo a t-shirt! Neutral

I know how you feel, I live in Jeans lol I normally team it up with a jumper or a roll neck jumper or cowl neck jumper, tops are normaly just patterend t-shirts with a bit of glitz on them but I always like to feel sexy for my man, not that I ever did lol, and obviously now I can't really go shopping for clothes as none of em will fit lol !!!
After this one is born I intend to do a bit of shopping so I look a glam mum !!!
