Any Sewers here?
Just wondering if any of you sew?
Do you make Halloween costumes?
What about clothing or curtains?
Doll clothes?
Do you sell them?
I've made curtains. They were just OK.
I've also got several patterns for my dd, but never made any. No time.
I wish I had an extra room just to set up for crafts. A room that the door could be shut and everything left where I left it.

Re: Any Sewers here?
i do cross stitch but ive never really sewed other than fixing a hole in DFs pants a couple of times.
Re: Any Sewers here?
I sew some. Haven't in a while because I don't really have room to do it here. Last project I did was I made myself cloth menstrual pads. I've made curtains, aprons, etc before. A couple dresses.
Never made anything to sell, just stuff for myself - I'm not that good. Haven't tried halloween costumes or anything, I don't recall the last time I dressed up for halloween.
I do plan on making some baby clothes after we move.
I also do embroidery and cross stitch, and crochet. I know how to knit, spin, and weave as well, I just never do(my loom and spinning wheel are back at my dad's still, I don't have time/money to get into it) and I prefer crochet to knitting. I recently crochet a couple placemats for our table, need to make a couple more and get started on the baby blanket!

Re: Any Sewers here?
I can make curtains and pillows - I could never sell them but they do the trick in my own house!
I made a table topper in Owen's room with pom pom fringe. I would love to learn to do more.
I can't figure out how to do a pattern to save my life!!!!
I would love to learn more. You know, my grandmother tried to teach me when I was a child and I wasn't interested. She is gone now and I wish I had learned - I would have a skill and the memories!

Re: Any Sewers here?
I took Home Economics in junior high and high school, where I learned the basics. Back then, I made embroidered cloth napkins, a stuffed rabbit, a pillow, and an embroidered denim bookbag. My mom has helped develop it a little more, back then too by helping me sew clothes for cabbage patch, making curtains for my room, making dresses here or there . I was going to sew Jadah some gowns in 2006 but I got stuck, put the pieces back into my sewing kit, and never got it out again, that being said, my dumb self has taken the idea into my head to sew Jadah's halloween costume this year. I wasn't going to bother, but her school is having a "Harvest Parade" wants the kids to dress up in characters out of books. So, the little miss decided to be Sleeping Beauty. No sleeping beautiy anywhere except on pattern, so today I'm going to go buy all the notions and material, and get started. I'll show you guys as I go how it develops, or not!

Re: Any Sewers here?
I can sew......I qualified in fashion and textile design at college and have made many of my clothes my first proper job was working for an interior design company and I made curtains and cushion covers all the time, but it meant that I learnt how to make them properly and I have made some of the curtains in our house and cushion covers.
I don't have tons of time to sew anything these days but I use stitching where I can on my scrapbook layouts and I do have some sewing projects waiting to be finished.

Oh Georgi!
I wish you lived here! I have found it very difficult to find someone skilled enough to sewn curtains, etc for my customers. I have two work rooms that I work with and I'm not crazy about the skill level of either of them!
I have these great ideas in my head but I can't produce them myself!
I was actually thinking about asking for sewing lessons for Christmas!!!
Cherry - good luck with that costume! I want to see a picture when you are finished!

Re: Any Sewers here?
I really wish I could do things like this, I'm just no good at this sort of thing at all! I struggle to sew a button onto my trousers and it always comes off again

I was taught to do most of it by hand and things like the header tape and hems were done on the machine, I did enjoy making them but I wasn't able to be as creative as I would have liked and that was what made me switch to a career in cutting men's hair.
Re: Any Sewers here?
Update on the Halloween costume. I'm not making it afterall. I found a Sleeping Beauty dress up dress over in the toy section, complete with her very own Sleeping Beauty Crown. So, I bought it instead. I might keep the pattern for making a dress up dress later for Jadah, since he likes dressing up.

Re: Any Sewers here?
Oh! I'm so glad you don't have to deal with making a costume this week!
You are one busy lady and that would have just added to your stress!
