A little gutted :-(
I applied to a a good uni, one in Norwich and didn't get in to do teacher training. I am really upset, can't seem to stop crying. I did really want to go there, but it's mostly the fact that it's a rejection. And my confidence as slumped big time. I've emailed and asked for feedback.
Me and the bf have chatted and decided that I'm going to change my 3rd and 4th choice to Uni's in Bath and Bristol. We're both familiar with the cities, feel safe there and I miss Bristol very much. My 2nd choice is York Uni, but I reeeeeaaaally doubt I'd get a place there, I'll be lucky to even get an interview. I'd rather change it to one I have more of a chance at, I can't change that though. I kind of hope I don't get an interview there, I don't want to knock my confidence even more. If I have an interview there, I would have no confidence.
Argh, I hate life sometimes.

Re: A little gutted :-(
aww hun im so sorry! i know how hard rejection can be :( i really think you will get into a good place, but for now its ok to be sad and disapointed. just be nice to yourself tonight, spoil yourself a bit, and it will get better.
Re: A little gutted :-(
So sorry, it is disappointing when something you set your heart on doesn't turn out. It will turn out, and you will end up taking your training where you were meant to be. Just take a deep breathe, keep your chin up, and get from here to there as best you can.
Of course take a day or two to mourn the end of that dream.

Re: A little gutted :-(
Oh I am sorry to hear that hun, the way I would look at it, is that your future is not in Norwich, there is a reason you are not supposed to go to that Uni, you may never know or it might become really obvious when you get into another Uni and have one of your best experiences in your life!!

Re: A little gutted :-(
Awww hun! Everything happens for a reason sweetie! You will get into the Uni you are meant to get into. Rejection never feels good hun but you shouldn't take it to heart. They can't let everyone in so they have to reject some people. ((((((JEN))))))
Re: A little gutted :-(
Thanks ladies
I have withdrawn my application to York, with only 13 places I just can't face that rejection again. I've changed my next one to UWE Bristol and then Bath Spa Uni
I should get into one of them
I miss the South West, so I'll be happy to be there again :-)

Re: A little gutted :-(
That's cos the South West is the Best!!!!! By the time we realised that I lived so close to Bath, you had moved so your be just down the road again!!
Re: A little gutted :-(
I am glad that you have taken this disappointment and turned it into something happy There is a reason for everything, sometimes the unexpected roads turn out to be just what we needed in the end. Good luck, you will be successful wherever you go.

Re: A little gutted :-(
Hehehe I ran away
I won't live in the centre of Bristol, Rich was in Clifton at Uni. The centre's too busy and pricey. So it'll be the suburbs Or maybe in between Bath and Bristol. Although I've heard mixed reviews of places like Keynsham hehe. There was once a crazy lady in the co-op. She must have had terrets or something. She was saying "Stupid slags from Keynsham" haha.
Thanks Tiff :-) I think everything happens for a reason, I just don't like it sometimes hehe.

Re: A little gutted :-(
I'm sorry to hear about your rejection. However, I'm a strong believer (after everything that has happened recently) that things happen for a reason, even if the reason is not immediately apparent.
Bristol is a great city. I did my MSc there September 2001-2002 and loved it!
I'm sure you'll get a place at an equally good uni

He He. Your mention of the crazy lady made me remember a crazy dude in London. DH and I were walking down the street once having a chat, and this guy walks up to us, and starts saying over and over, "God Damned Yankee Doodle Dandees!!!!"

Re: A little gutted :-(
This has made me feel better. I didn't realise they only interview they like on the application:
"You do, however, need to appreciate that you are competing with a number of other candidates and we will only interview candidates who demonstrate all or most of these aspects most effectively on their application form."
I presumed they tried to interview everyone, regardless. They actually receive about 200 applicants. And so it was great that I got an interview :-)

Clifton is where I got those professional photo's taken of me and my friend and Keynsham is just where my brother has moved from, it actually isn't all that bad at all, it's got everything you need there!!
Re: A little gutted :-(
Cool :-)
It always looked fine when passing through on the train to Bristol. I really can't wait to be back in the SW and not in a horrible student house :-) Rich will be a 'real' teacher then and I'll have my bursary/loan so we should be able to afford some where nice in the outskirts. Even if it's a small flat.
I did love Clifton, but it's BLOODY expensive hehe.

Re: A little gutted :-(
Toffee, don't get too tangled up in getting in at "just the right place." First, there's no way to tell without being there for a while; second, if you get in somewhere you can then focus on transferring out if you still really feel a need to do that. In the mean time, don't let this take your momentum away - you're going to be fine hun. Shut yer eyes, hit the gas and hang on to the wheel....
