Another Pet thread
I didn't really want to start a new thread, but I searched for the other Pet thread we had going and found it archived.
Some of you may have already heard, but we lost our cat Shadow on Monday afternoon. He had stopped eating around Labor Day, and the vet suspected cancer. Steroid drug therapy got him eating and active again though and we had him for nearly 3 more months. This past week though he started acting quieter and quit eating again. Over the weekend I could see he was getting worse, but then Monday he really deteriorated quickly. I ended up leaving work at noon to come home to him and the hubby. He died at 2:20 in the afternoon with both of us right by his side. He was nearly 16. We took him to the vet later that afternoon for a private cremation so we could have his ashes.
My only regret is that I hadn't put Christmas tree yet this year, because he loved it so much. This is a pic I took of him last year.
This doesn't need to be a thread about my cat, so please share any stories about your pets, past or present!

Awe Beth, I'm sorry to hear about Shadow.

(( BETH)) Such a good pet mommy! Shadow is beautiful and lived a long and prosper life!
Sparkles I love bullies! they do not get nearly enough credit, and the kitty is beautiful seems to have some maincoon qualities.
Here are my kids taken a few days ago:

Re: Another Pet thread
sparkles, Jet looks a bit aprehensive about the baby! Funny.
Ashley, I always like your pups! I love the floppy ears on the brown one (can't remember her name right now).
Can't remember if I said it, but yes, I do plan on getting another cat. I found one that's with the agency we adopted Morgan from. We like the looks of him, but I'm concerned about his ability to tolerate a dog ..... and also don't want any Christmas tree disasters! lol. Might wait until after Christmas.

Re: Another Pet thread
lol! Beth, her name is Piper we say she has the 10 o'clock 12 o'clock ears! they are so crazy!! She is also really small for her breed as you can see her next to Poppy ( our 11 year old Boston) she isn't too much bigger and she will be 1 in February! She has LOTS of health problems too though she can not eat any treats, scraps, or even real bones with the dried meat flavoring or she get REALLY REALLY sick she has an over sensitive stomach so we have to keep her on Nutro Sensitive stomach with oatmeal dog food! We did put yogurt in it for the longest time to help coat her stomach and finally weaned her off of it. She is the smartest little dog too! by 6 months she could sit, shake, stay, rollover and bark on command. She reminds me so much of our doggy that we lost
I hope the kitty at the shelter works out, I am always so sad for the cats in the shelter they are rarely adopted especially the black ones When I worked at the shelter I heard all types of excuses too like "it wouldn't match the carpet, or furniture" How crazy is that?! Your a good person any pet would be lucky to have you!

Re: Another Pet thread
Well on Dec. 20th, we became a new cat mom and dad! We went to an adoption event at PetsMart to see a specific cat we had been considering. Ultimately decided he might not be the one for us....a decision made easier because my husband had spotted another cat with a different adoption group that he really liked. This cat was also a 18mo neutered male but was much more mellow.
So despite not knowing if this cat liked/tolerated dogs, we adopted him and took him home. We renamed him Tom (I call him Tommy), and he has adapted amazing quickly and well. He and Morgan are now best friends. Seriously! Tommy was very nervous about her at first, but within 2 days wasn't bothered by her at all.
All I know about him is that he was dumped at this private shelter in a carrier but with no note. The lady said he was obviously well cared for though. They only had him a month, got him vaccinated/microchipped/neutered, and this was his 1st adoption event. The lady said he was such a nice cat she knew he'd find a home quickly.
He's been wonderful so far and we just love him!
He amazes us by lying in strange positions and in places Shadow never did.
Last night Morgan was on the bed and hubby placed Tommy so he was curled up against her. Neither one minded it! Have to get a pic. of that one, for sure. But here they are playing. Morgan really isn't eating his foot!
One thing we've realized now is what a large cat Shadow was. Neither one of us had a cat before him, so we just considered him normal. Well he never appeared particularly fat (although he was somewhat overweight), but he topped out at 18lbs. Tommy is about 9! Just a cute little guy.....

Re: Another Pet thread
There are some really cute pets on here. My pet guinea pig died recently so I have no pets to show now. We had a friend for him but I didn't want to get another to keep him company so we gave him to a good home. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. You do get so attached to them.
Re: Another Pet thread
Here's some new pics of the kids that the hubby took.
Here Tommy and Morgan are looking like perfect little angels.
And then Morgan completely mauls Tommy.
But Tommy retaliates!
