Shout Box Problem...HELP!
I discovered this morning that I can not view the PP website now while at work. It is prohibited by our company's "Internet Usage Policy." Usually anything pornographic, racist (I imagine), and certain other types of sites are banned. Not usually a problem.
Also, we cannot download and install any software (pain in the butt since I can't even get software updates) or use any sort of IM program or chat room.
But I've never had a problem with a Shout Box because I get on AWH and the hasaheadache forums without problems.
I'm sure it's the Shout Box causing the problem because my banned website webpage lists http://573143.myshoutbox.com/ as the problem.
Is there any way to fix this for me? I'm not sure how or what needs to be done; I just know it drives me crazy not being able to check in throughout the day!
Thanks!

Oh No! I will have a look at what I can do but I have a bad feeling that the shoutbox would actually need to be removed to enable you to gain access to the site I will still check it out!
Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Thanks Georgi! Like I said, it's not a problem on the other sites, just here.

Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
It's most likely because the shoutbox here is hosted elswehere and just linked through to this site - The one on AWH is actually integrated with the forum software, and the one on HAH is an add-on for the software (rewritten a bit here and there) and hosted on the same site.

Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Since the new features I have been having trouble with the website too, not at work but at home. The smiley's don't move at home and the recent topics down the side don't scroll up anymore. Couple of other minor problems too, nothing major though!
Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Myste, you know a thing or two about this programming stuff, don't you? Any suggestions for Georgi?
I realize this just might seem to be an annoyance for me, but if my company's internet filters won't allow it, eventually someone else will have the same problem as well. Like if someone Googles and finds us, but then can't reach us. That would suck!

Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
LMAO...yes we'll miss you Bethy JK... Georgi,is there another site you can get the source code for the shout box from?
Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
I have made a couple of adjustments to the Shout Box code in the hope that it will now be ok but obviously I need someone to tell me i.e. Beth if the amendments have made any difference or not.
Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Unfortunately with the way the site is hosted, there's not a whole lot that could be done. on HAH I have access to the actual server that runs the whole site (DH and I host it on our webspace after the old host got hacked) and could make the changes "behind the scenes" as it were. Here we're limited by what Forumotion will let forum owners do. I suspect they want people either using the shoutbox they provided (which was ridiculously buggy) or have one hosted off-site like the one we have now so they don't have to pay the extra bandwidth costs.

Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Yeah, thought as much. Thanks Myste.Well,I think then we will have to ditch the shout box for now ladies...
I do have a positve though.Georgi and I were discussing creating our own site (WAY before parentise came to be,this was just the quicker less expensive option for now) and we still intend to do it.That site will have it's own forum. We were going to link it to this one but it would seem that it's best we have our own, that way we can customise it and have evetything the way we want/need it withouth worrying so much about mixing code and encroaching on bandwidth etc... We are hoping to have it up and running soon so once we've done it,this address with change but hopefully all you ladies can come with and although things maye slighlty different, this will be 'us' just making it ALL ours.

Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Well, if any changes were made today, it made only a slight difference, if any. Today I was able to let the page load and then stop it before the Shout Box loaded. I was able to view posts but not able to reply because the reply button hadn't loaded. Really it was just a matter of timing; maybe I was just quickier today, lol. But sometimes it loaded too quickly and I got booted. Frustrating.
Nika....I caught that remark....you better run, woman!

Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Well Beth having you able to post/be on the forum is far more important to Angel and I than a Shoutbox, so hoping you can access the site now with no problems!! BIG KISS x
Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
Oh, I'm so sorry it didn't work out, but I do appreciate it greatly. I'm sure you'll see posts from me later today! Thank you.

Re: Shout Box Problem...HELP!
I'm sorry to be a pain but i'm still having issues with this site on my home computer. I think it's the box that pops up when you first get on here asking you to log on or register. Before that pops up everything works fine but then it all stops? I can't see the recent topis down the side, the smileys don't dance anymore and on the different boards I used to be able to just rest my mouse on the little box thingy nect to the person who last posted and it would tell me which post it would take me too, it doesnt do that anymore. Not major problems but still annoying! Any ideas what's casuing it?
