Help - Stubborn clogged duct
You'd figure after more than one year of nursing, I'd know what to do. BUT, I don't. I have a clogged duct (I don't remember having had that more than once before) and I can't seem to unclog it. I tried hot showers, massaging, different nursing positions, but nothing seems to help. I have had it for 3 days now and I really don't want it to turn into mastitis.
Any ideas / tips???? Thanks so much.

Re: Help - Stubborn clogged duct
Hey hun,Sorry I know this sucks!Get a cabage, put it in the fridge and every hour or so,tear of a new leaf and put it in yuor bra cup. While you're nursing get a warm washcloth and using your fingers inside the warm (as warm as you can bear) smooth down toward the nipple with your finger. For me this was almost instant relief for the clogged feeling. If you have a fever go straight to the docs. But the washcloth and the cabbage leave help with the unblocking and the pain relief.
Re: Help - Stubborn clogged duct
I had a clogged duct once and someone (maybe Sparkles?) told me to let him nurse on that side first every time. I think they suck hard in the beginning (of course, it maybe slightly different with an older baby).
I wish I had better advice!

Thank you so much ladies. I will try all those tips that you gave me. I actually started today having Kian nurse first from that side, hopefully that will help it some. So thanks, Lou Lou. Also, Angel, thanks for the tips. Went out to get some cabbage and will give it a try. No, no fever at this point. Thanks again!!!
