My kid freaks out.....
Owen FREAKS out if I try to put shoes on him! It's horrible! He wore shoes all the time in the winter but since he's been cruising I quit putting them on him because I've always heard it helps them learn to walk when the are barefoot.
But now we are having major problems!
Any tips or ideas to help me transition him to shoes?

Isaac did that too when he first put hard sole shoes on. I let him throw his tantrum the first time it was a little crazy he threw himself around and cried but he eventually calmed down. He is much better about them now. Have you tried soft sole shoes and working him back into the harder soles?

Re: My kid freaks out.....
Yes! I've tried all types of shoes from soft tennis shoes, to sandals to sandals with socks.... I even have a pair of crocks but nothing works. I usually put them on and take them off within minutes but maybe I need to get a pair with laces that are difficult to take off and just put them on and leave them on!
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that is/had a hard time with this! Thanks!

I hated putting shoes on Audrey as a baby. As she started walking we started putting shoes on her, but I dont' remember her ever freaking out. Hope he gets accustomed to them. Just you wait until you ask him to get his shoes if he wants to go and play outside, he'll get them in a jiffy!!

Yeah the shoes I put on Isaac he couldn't get off. Just so you know you aren't alone I will share these with you. They are pics of the tantrums we went through. I took pics because my mom didn't believe me that he was already throwing them and especially over shoes.

agh! I can't wait for the day when I ask him to do something and he does it!!!!!
Mommabear I love those pictures!!!! I have always thought that Isaac reminds me a little of Owen and in these pictures even more so!!!!!! That's EXACTLY what Owen looks like when I put shoes on him!!!!
You guys - he has spent the entire day playing with new birthday toys! I haven't had to entertain him at all!!!!!
This is awesome!!!!

Yes... buy him these!!!
They are the next best thing to bare feet. LM loves her shoes, they are the only ones she will wear and walk in without crying.

OMG that second little pic is so pitiful 'mama what have you done to me???' so awful when they do the lip thing. If it helps,Tia-li won't wear shows either.I just let her walk around barefoot,I don't mind, shoes will come later.I think they maybe walk better naturally when we are as nature intended to start with.I dont think I had a problem puttng shoes on teo n I didnt do that till he was between 18mnt-2yrs.Just suck that you cany just put them down anywhere when u go out.lol
Re: My kid freaks out.....
Oh Lou Lou, sorry to hear about that. Kian doesn't actually wear shoes at all yet, he cruises barefoot. We did put some shoes on him for playing sometime, but he is always barefoot - in the yard, on the playground, at home (or in socks if it is cold). I hope Kian will not throw a tantrum (and believe me is getting REALLY GOOD at it right now ) when he gets to start wearing shoes. Hopefully it gets better soon and you'll find some shoes that he tolerates.
