A friend just told me about this food co-op, called Bountiful Harvest. I signed up, and we are getting our first basket of food Saturday. Our friends seemed pretty excited about it, and said they always get a bunch of stuff. It costs $15 for a basket, and here is what someone said they got in their last four baskets....there are a bunch of pick-up locations.

That's fantastic!
We have a farmer's market not far from our house and I love taking Owen there. He enjoys being outside and seeing all the colors, etc.
I am going to look into the co-op though because those prices are amazing!
Can't wait to see what you get!

Wow, that sounds like a great deal, DM. Fantastic. I will have to check out if we have something like this in our area. Like Lou Lou, we go to the farmer's market cause I like to buy locally grown and organic if possible.

I wish we had a co-op here for fruit and veges. We have them for fish and clothes which can be good at times but fish isn't in as hot demand as staples.
I usually shop at my local fruit and vege shop which is fairly large or on weekends they have the farmers markets over at the local showgroup and their stuff is usually organic but it's far to cold for me to go there at the moment. Once winter is over i'll reconsider it.

I get a CSA share (which is the basket things you're talking about) and I shop at a co-op market nearby for all the rest of my groceries. I love it, it's slightly more expensive than shopping at the regular grocery store but the quality is 100% better, the people are friendlier and I'm very glad I joined. We eat about 90% organics and probably 60% local. I'm not fanatic about it but I try.
