Post  LeanneWhitney Wed Oct 14, 2009 8:26 pm

Hey ladies i was wondering if anyone had any idea where i can buy shirts that are easy to nurse with that don't cost a lot of money im on a tight budget, Getting very annoying taking my shirt off all the time and having come sit in my bed room to feed because i got take my shirt off in-case my room mate comes in. And i dont feel like taking my shirt off in public to feed her eather i have like 4 strapy top to pull down but im just messing them up stretching the strap from on off on off the arm lol

hi,
As i don't live in the US I can only help by saying can you not pull your top up to one side, (eg so to get your boob out?) Also it is helpful to have a muslin cloth and tuck the corner into your bra strap and then the rest will cover your boobs and babe when your fed. It gives you easy to feed and people know what is going on but can't see anything. Hope this helps to save a few pennies. x

i use to wear a singlet top under my shirt ( it was winter) and i would pull one shirt up and one shirt down, so top of breast was covered, stomach was covered and breast was out feeding, babies head usually covers breast or a muslin cloth. The only breast feeding tops i have seen here are really expensive
good luck xo

My advice is to wear a sports bra or a Medela night nursing bra that has no straps that you have to un-do. The hardest part for me was dealing with the darned hooks on the nursing bras in public. I had one of those cozy nursing bras that was pretty much like a sports bra, but had cups to hold my breasts. It made for easy access, I just whipped my boob out of the bottom of it, and I was ready to go. As far as a nursing shirt, just don't wear one with buttons, or that are super tight fitting, and go for stretchier polyester/cotton blends. I say go to wal-mart and buy them. You can stock up on plain simple shirts that are easy for nursing and that you can set aside once you have the hang of things more.

I'm pretty sure I got my bra at Target. Here is a link so you know what I am talking about. I wore the night nursing bra 24 hours a day.

I've been using tank tops and just pulling my boob out from the top of it. I'd like to get some nursing tanks though, but don't think I'll get aroudn to ordering them.

What on earth is a muslin cloth??

So just to clarify, if I get a wrap/cover thing, like that hooters hiders, I shouldn't worry about buying nursing tops? They DO seem expensive.

thanks for this thread Leanne, I am learning a lot!

Leanne I bought 2 fantastic tops from an ebay shop...very cheap!!
Where can i buy Dsc00110
hopefully you can see by the photo the top has un-clipable straps rather like a bra and a secret sort of boob tube inside, you don't lose the strap when you feed either cos there is a ribbon attached to the strap and the top.

Okay thanks Pringle, they sort of look like burp cloths which i use while breastfeeding. I tuck one under the breast so when Jasper lets go I can catch the let down with it.

I'm such a dummy, I kept trying to figure out who the hell was "Happy" that people kept referring to and why it didn't make sense. Duh, it's suppose to be one of the emoticons!! Gosh, I forgot how dumb you could get while pregnant!

Where can i buy Empty Re: Where can i buy

Post  skyllar Sat Oct 17, 2009 1:08 pm

I bought 2 nursing tank tops (where you can unhook the top part) at target (they were very cheep). I always wore (actually still am wearing, lol) very comfortable (cotton only) nursing bras. At home I would just put any clothes on and lift my shirt. In public or with people over I would wear my nursing tank top and a blouse or anything over it cause that way your tummy isn't exposed. For days when I really needed to nurse in public (like an evening occasion, formal dinner, or on the plane, or anything like that) I had a couple of nursing tops (not tank tops, but 3/4 sleeves, or long sleeve) that I would wear. I bought those at motherwear (you can google it). I bought a couple in basic black that I could wear to many different occasions. I never liked to cover myself up with a blanket or wrap - Kian didn't really like it and would pull it away. Sometimes I would just nurse him in the car, or when nursing in public, cover my boob with a blanket (but not him, lol).
