Does he need stitches!
OK. I'm freaking out! Owen just stood up on a laundry basket and fell and cut his lip pretty bad.
There was a lot of blood but it has quit bleeding. It's very swollen and the cut is deep - I can see inside the cut if that makes sense...... do you think he needs stitches? Can I monitor it over night and if I decide he needs stitches tomorrow go on in or is there a window of opportunity on stitches doing their job?!!!!!

Re: Does he need stitches!
Lou Lou -- OMG, so sorry to hear that Owen got hurt. Did you try to put some ice on it (or give him some icecream or something frozen). If it stops bleeding, I think you should be fine. Especially if the cut is in the inside of his mouth. On the inside of the mouth they usually try to let it heal, unless it is a pretty bad cut and then they will stitch it. But, if it stopped bleeding, you should hopefully be fine. If it starts again and is not be stopped, you might had to the doc. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hope Owen feels better. Does your insurance have a dial-a-nurse number you can call and ask? I think Skyllar is right, they don't stitch inside the mouth unless they have to. Lucy's inside lip cut was about 1/2 '' horizontal across her lower lip. It bled alot too. After it stopped bleeding she kinda fussed with it on and off for a couple hours, but it didn't start bleeding again. Ice or something cold would be a good thing for the swelling.
Poor Owen. Poor Mom! I bet it was almost as bad for you as it was for him.
