that damn hand!

ok cloie has always sucked on her fingers since day one but past 3 weeks she been tryin get her whole hand in her mouth all the time or puts her fingers back of her throat till she gags her self it starting to really bother me to why she doing this, any idea's?

Leanne I wish I had something that could help. Isaac had a paci/binky whatever you want to call it so he really only sucked on his thumb when he first found it. I wonder if it is something that she will eventually stop on her own or maybe a phase she will grow out of???

Owen did that too.... I think it's just a part of exploring. I would just pull his hand out of his mouth and say something like "we just suck on our fingers, not our whole hand!" He still does it every now and then but not nearly as often as he did when he was very little!

i call them dummys heh but she has one n put it in her mouth n trys put her hand in her mouth with it and glad she aint only kid to dose it upseting me cus she did it till she was sick 3 times now n i keep takein her hand out but she finds it funny n thinks im playin with her

I agree with everyone else on it will pass! Kids are so funny! She is just learning that she can put those strange things at the end of her arms where ever she wants to Good luck sweety! Get some pics of it to show her later

Like the others said, it will pass. Kian used to do that when he was little and sometimes does it when his teeth are really bad (not really the whole hand, but several fingers). It did pass; we didn't do anything special about it and it just stopped. He was then way more interested to put a chew toy in his mouth than his hand.

yea i put it down to mostly teething at the moment because can feel where the tooth is comeing in and she putting everything that side of her mouth lol and she wants cling to me like a lil baby monkey suckling

Don't want to scare you, but Jayden still does it. She's gotten so good, she doesn't even need to put anything in there to gag herself. She loves it, as sick as that is, and still manages to throw up every once in awhile from doing it. So, I'm still waiting for it to pass!!

Sweetheart, I don't know but is it making her sick? Molly does it now for attention when she is having a tantrum believe it or not. If we try and ignore her, she sticks her fingers down her throat until she gags as she knows that it gets a reaction. It's so upsetting! MY husband says 'Molly, you're not a supermodel yet!'. I know that sounds really awful but I hope it stops at some point, it worries me :s
