Re: quit smoking??
One thing about it is, you're not getting smoke so you can smoke in the house etc. And apparently won't get lung cancer from them.

Re: quit smoking??
yeah.... no! lol it didnt happen, was a VERY hectic morning, anyways i will be talking to nancy (who does our finances) to see if there is anyway i will be able to get the chantix, we are on such a tight budget i dont know if we will be able to spare enough money though.
Re: quit smoking??
Ahh!! Well I don't know if the patches could be a cheaper option for you. They are REALLY good!
Re: quit smoking??
Well here they are about Ł18.00 for 2 weeks supply (about $36.00) But when you bear in mind you are only on them for a few months, it still works out cheaper than cigs and eventually it will save you a fortune!!! When I quit again I will definately be using them again!
Re: quit smoking??
thats cool not to expensive considering you dont smoke with them right? the only reason we cant afford the chantix is cause you smoke on it for a while too so its an added cost.
Re: quit smoking??
No you can't smoke on them, if you do it makes you feel real sick because you are getting too much nicotine. The patches slowly release nicotine for 24 hours so that takes away the physical craving, of course you still have the psycological aspect to deal with and that can be just as tough. I found it was pretty tough for the first couple of weeks but only because I was used to smoking at certain times of the day (i.e after a meal, when waiting for a coffee to cool down, after TV shows) so these times were hard because I felt like I should be doing something. After that it got ALOT easier. Then you wean yourself off the patches by using different strengths untill you are on the lowest one. After a couple of weeks on those you stop them altogether.
Re: quit smoking??
that sounds quite promising, i am really going to look into it, maybe my quit date will be wed. since we get paid on tuesday and i would be able to go buy the patches that night!!!
and lots and lots of gum!!!! lol
and lots and lots of gum!!!! lol
Re: quit smoking??
Another thing I did for the first week was buy a big bag of lollipops! Sounds silly but it gave me something to do with my hands and my mouth! lol!
Re: quit smoking??
hehehe, sounds good!! im gonna have to go shopping!!! lol, i hope i manage to quit otherwise i will be wasting so much money LOL!!!

Re: quit smoking??
i thought i would dredge this back up. So far, not a single cigarette today, which is good for me! lol i usually smoke my first cigarette of the day, right when i wake up, around 6:15 and ill go outside to smoke before kaydee even gets up for the day. So its now 9am and nothing yet! wow, normally i would have had at least 3-4 smokes already (i know, im bad, i smoked WAY to much). Im motivating myself cause i have my Dr appt today at 2 to confirm the baby, and i would LOVE to be able to tell her i havent smoked at all today! oh, that and i have a GIANT bag of DumDums in my desk hehehee
Re: quit smoking??
Can you get those things from a chemist-little plastic thing with nicotine in? So no smoke and helps you fiddle with something. Or lolly pops? hehe.
Glad you're quitting!!

Re: quit smoking??
well im not getting anything from the store except dumdums, gum, mints and such because im pregnant, so if im going to be putting toxic stuff into my baby, i may as well just smoke ya know? im not gonna use a patch or anything, i think they even say NOT to use those pregnant. but anyways, so far im doing pretty good i think doing the whole cold turkey thing. got my dum dums lol!! they actually last a lot longer than i thought if you just suck on them and dont chew them up right away lol!!
but thanks for the encouragement toffee

Re: quit smoking??
thanks nicki!!! doing pretty well so far, there have been a few moments i would have REALLY enjoyed a cigarette, but so far i havent had any OMG I NEED TO GO SMOKE RIGHT NOW OR I WILL KILL SOMEONE moments. and it helped that charles called me earlier to double check when my appt was, ask me to call him when i get out of the dr's and tell me hes so proud of me for not smoking yet today even though its only been like 4 hours! awwww hahaha.
Re: quit smoking??
man, im having a rough night. this just sucks. i just want one cigarette (although, yes i do know where that leads me.) i have not been great today. i have smoked. but when i ran out of the very few i had, i didnt buy more, and ive gone most the day. i feel like shit, i guess i just needed to vent. i feel like im getting really depressed and just want to cry where i was so happy earlier. oh well. i hope im not a depressed fool for the next nine months.
