Periods And Breastfeeeding...
Has anyone had a 'real period yet' while breastfeeding?I heard they can come back anytime depending on the woman.I am enjoying not having one to be honest BUT,I also want to get a lady comp.I know this is not going to be of any use unless I start ovulating having cycles again...So.... wondered if anyone has any experience with this...
About 6 weeks ago,I had a da of cramping headaches, and AF type symptoms, the next day I began spotting dark blood, the spotting became a light but still dark brown coloured flow and continued for 24 hours before returning to spotting.I have had nothing since and no real 'red' blood. So although it walked and talked like AF I don't think it was.Although ,they could be irregular,I think also that by now,I should have had another period if that was the case.It was WAY after my PP bleeding stopped though and not after sex or anything.

Re: Periods And Breastfeeeding...
Hey Angel, I got my first PP period when Kian was 4 month old. I had a little bit of cramping (less than pre-baby) and several days of flow (like pre-baby). Since then, I had two more periods regular as can be (28-30 days apart). I have been breastfeeding Kian exclusively and just started him on solids at about 6 months. I hope that helps.

Re: Periods And Breastfeeeding...
well, i only breastfed for 7 days, so i cant comment about mine, but i will say my sister breastfed until my nephew was a year old, never got a period and got preggo again when he was 13 months old! lol, that was a surprise (she should have known better lol)
Re: Periods And Breastfeeeding...
well i am still breast feeding- although weaning slowly and i still havent had af- i thought i did about 6 weeks pp i had ovulation cramps and ewcm then ten days later i had a light bleed for two days since then nothing. Also Kyrah has been sleeping through since 8 weeks aprox 7-8 hours a night back then and i have heard if your baby goes longer than 6 hours af can come back, however Kyrah did feed every 2 1/2 hours during the day. I introduced solids about 4 1/2 months but properly on solids around 5 months and also started to wean her to formula one feed a week around 5 months and still no af. However i have had cramping etc for over 2 weeks now but still no af lol.
I still breast feed 2-3 times a day so it must be enough for my body to keep af away??????? but its interesting how everyone is different - i cant believe you have got af back Sky when still breast feeding exc.
My friend breast fed for 8 weeks and got hers back about 8 weeks after that
another friend breast fed and fell pregnant while breast feeding so ........ i guess its up to your body lol... i would kinda like mine back so i can get cycles back on track etc

Re: Periods And Breastfeeeding...
hey hun, Well i have had 2 periods since kiers was born he is now 5 months, i got the first when we were all sick and i couldnt breastfeed for 3 days and my supply went right down, he was about 3 months old, then i started increaasing my supply up again and now am basically exclusive again apart from 1 bottle, then my second af showd up 10 days late, so got the 1st on sept 7th then 2nd on oct 17th both lasted 4-5 days, so will see when next one arrives. i have been told alot of people will get theres when baby is 4 months but like they say, everyone is different

Well, that is an excellent question.I will post a little information about it on a sepearate thread in the motherhood forum!
Re: Periods And Breastfeeeding...
I was actually going to post this very same question so I am glad you already did Angel. My back has been killing me to the point that I thought my fibroid was growing again like when I was pregnant. After reading everyone's comments maybe it is AF trying to start back up because I have noticed other things as well. I too would love for my cycle to get back on track so my LadyComp can stop being yellow and I can know when and why I am emotional. I was actually paranoid that maybe I was pregnant again but I have decided that is impossible...
A Ladycomp thread is a great idea! I have been using my LC even though I haven't had af yet. They say to start temping with LC again 6 weeks after having a baby. I didn't start that early and my temping has been anything but consistent with getting up for baby but I figured anything is better than nothing.
