What brand of make-up do you wear?

So this is sort of a spin off from the thread "Do you wear make-up every day"

I noticed that some of you said you don't because your make-up is expensive. I can't afford expensive make-up so I suppose I just wanted to know, is it really worth the money?

I wear a mixture of Rimmel, No. 7 and Avon. It seems perfectly fine for what I wear? I know there is really expensive make-up out there, is it really so much better than the cheap stuff?

My skin does some dumb stuff at different times of the year, and I never pay attention enough to notice a pattern. But, sometimes I'm dry in spots, sometimes oily. Sometimes I ligthen sometimes not. In the past, I've spent $$ on foundation, and just wasted it because I could never get the color to do right when I wanted it to, probably because of the previous mentioned reasons. Also, I don't like heavy makeup at all. I'm a simple and quick type of girl when it comes to makeup needs: on a regular non foundation day, it's eyeliner(cheap Sally's or Walmart stuff), mascara(don't remember brand, but the brush is designed not to clump lashes), eyeshadow(cheap), lipliner(cheap, prefer retractable ones), and lipgloss(found some at Bath and Body Works that I really like). I did go to Mac about a month ago and the lady applied a cream foundation to my face, and I like it, so I bought it. But, I can't seem to acquire the same quality that she did.

You know a lot about makeup, I would love some tips or examples on eyeshadow combinations if you could/would give me some !!!

My usual routine is MaryKay foundation and Artistry (Amway) everything else -- concealer, face poweder, eye liner, and mascara. Oh, I do use just a drug store brand eye shadow, simply a neutral shade so that my eyelids and under brow area don't look discolored. Since I've gone more high-end, I've never gone back. I have, in emergencies, had to use other cleansers and mouisturizer and simply felt like the products were damaging my skin because they felt so harsh!

I have no idea how to apply eye shadows either!

Since someone at the other place posted about Everyday Minerals makeup, I have been experimenting with that. I'm still up in the air about it. I hate having to wait 10+minutes for my mouisturizer to sink in before applying it. And it doesn't seem to last all day. I have to powder during the day to get rid of shine and I don't have to do that with the other stuff, unless I'm going out that night. Also it seems to collect in my face lines and such. I do like the blush though and might stick with that. I've never tried Bare Minerals so I don't know if that is any better.

I use Mac eyeshadows, blusher, eyeliner, and mascara. Right now I use Rimmel Powder, but am saving up for the mineral make up.

the best advice I can give is to use 3 different shades on your eyes, you have a contour, midtone and a highlighter you apply the highlighter (light shade/sparkly shade) first to the browbone and lids then use a midtone shade (something slightly darker and matt) into the crease of the eye starting from the outside corner to the other corner, put it along your bottom lashes too!! then finally add the contour shade (darkest shade), this goes just in the outside corner and into the crease layering it on top of the midtone shade. Afterwards go back over the highligher and make sure that is all blended in.
Shades that work in harmony work best, like 2 shades of browns with gold. Browns work the best in my opinion on all eye and skin colours but the darker the skin the braver you can be and trust me golds look devine on your skin tone

I do it the other way round! lol!!! I use a light shade first up to the brow bone and then a darker shade on my actual eye lid! Then if that's too dark I put on the lighter shade again over the top! I confess I don't really have a clue what I am doing when it comes to make up! lol!!!
