Midwife appointment
Had my 25 weeks appointment today, everything was fine and normal, she listened to babys heartbeat and that was good, I'm sure she said it was 160 ish.
She had a measure of bump, that was 23 cm, am I right in thinking its meant to to be equal cm to equal weeks ie as i'm 25 it meant to be 25 cm ???
She wasn't worried so I'm not lol!!!
She had a feel of bump and baby was head down with its butt at the top left of my bump, back down the left side and limbs on the right. Normally I feel baby like that but the butt tends to be on the top right of my bump lol still with back down the left as I get alot of movement down the right!!
I have my next appointment on the 30th Jan, I'll be 28 weeks !!!!

Re: Midwife appointment
Helen - I was measuring 3cm behind from around 25/27 weeks (sorry can't quite remember) but I personally think that the fundal height measurement is a poor method to estimate how big or small a baby is, womens bodies vary in size so much and one women can look massive at say 25 weeks and another barely pregnant. It also makes a difference if you have a uterus tilted backwards or forwards and of course one appointment the baby could be positioned different to the next appointment causing the bump to measure slightly different ALSO midwifes tend to measure differently, if they don't go by the pubic bone that could make your measurement shorter or longer! I know that you said you aren't worried and neither should you be, I just thought it might help other members/protential members to know why and how measurements can vary!
So pleased that all with well

That's great news, Helen, that everything seemed fine.
As Georgi said, don't worry about the fundal height measurement. It is not an accurate measure and the measurements usually vary from doctor to doctor and midwife to midwife. I read up on it when I was pregnant and there are already doctors/midwifes that don't to this kind of measurement any more at all. So please don't worry!

Re: Midwife appointment
I think as you say how baby was led may have an impact on the size, as it was angled lol !!!

Re: Midwife appointment
That's great news Helen. I wouldn't worry about the fundal height. They usually allow a couple of centimetres either side for reasons that Georgi has already said. As long as you are growing every time you see the midwife it should be fine.
