Anyone else had Dequarvain's?

I dunno if I spelled it right but i finally went to the ortho doc yesterday and I have "New Mom's tendonitis" - DeQuarvains. I got a shot of Marcaine and Depo-Medrol and now today my arm hurts really bad What i am not sure about is nursing Thane. He only nurses at night really anyway, so its not much...BUT the pharmacist said there were 3 trials where the baby was fine when nursing but she really wouldn't recommend it...well then my doctor and Ray's doctor said that he would be just fine to nurse. Have any of you had the steroid shot and what do you think?

Is it pain meds? My doctor said just about any pain med is ok to take and nurse. I mean, in the hospital they had me on oxycotin (sp?) and that's an addictive pain medication. How long does the shot stay in your system?

Hey Lou Lou! Its a steroid. It stays in my system for 7 days. The half life is 2 days...

He already nursed last night though But if its really bad i don't want to do it anymore than that!!!

They gave me morphine lol. I guess it's good to be the old mom.


Sorry Ginny, Not to detract from your serious topic, of which I know nothing. It hurts 1/2 way between my thumb and wrist, I wonder if that is my problem too....

Yes Dolly's Momma! It VERY well could be the same thing! Ugh - i have had mine for almost 3 months! Look it up online and do the finkelstein test and if it hurts then you very well could have the same thing!! It sux

I think Thane will be just fine. I know when I was pregnant with Audrey, I had the option of putting steroid lotion on my scalp to help stimulate my hair growth, but I didn't want to chance it being pregnant so I never did. All he said it would do is make me possibly have a bigger baby, well....I had a huge baby without the help of steroids, haha!! I think Thane will be fine, but if he goes thru a major growth spurt.....

In my self applied test it did not radiate up my arm, but it was very painful the entire length of my thumb to my wrist. Maybe I will have that checked out....I have had it for a couple months. I thought I was using my computer too much.

I would definitely tell my doc, DM. You might as well just get that shot cuz its about the only treatment really. I have had on a brace for 2 months and it still hasn't helped The pain is better today but I can still feel in my tendon a little pain so maybe it will take another day? This kind of tendonitis is actually really common. And yes, I work on a computer also so i am sure it aggravates it. I used to use the thumb roller ball mouse at work but I couldn't move my thumb so I had to change to the regular kind. oh well...it sounds like the same thing to me. mine didn't radiate up my arm either til it got REALLY bad. good luck!

I went to the chiropractor Friday (for my neck), and told him about my hand. He did some different tests than I saw online, and he said yes I definitely had it. They put the laser on it. It felt really good Friday night, now I am about half way back to it hurting.

I don't know if I should give 2 or 3 of the laser treatments a try or start looking into the shot. The laser is pretty painless and doesn't involve needles......

He had me touch the tips of my thumb and little finger together to make a circle. Then he put pressure on them, and I had 0 strength in that hand. The other hand was fine. After the laser I had alot of the strength back too.

That's GREAT!! If you still hurt Iwould get the shot cuz its MUCH better now! i am not wearing my brace!!!
