Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
I don't have any but if I am still facing the 'issue' tomorrow I will get some!
Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
Georgi- Sounds promising honey! I hope you go into labor soon!!!
Well I got the urine results back from my doctor and I tested negative for a pregnancy. The stupid doctor sent me for a blood profile but didn't put in the blood work order to test for pregnancy in the blood. So they are going by my urine test. I used First Response for my HPT which is a very sensitive HPT, and they just used cheap strips at the lab where I had to give a urine sample. I hadn't even missed my period yet, I was still 2 days away from a missed period when I did that urine test at the doctors. It was my family doctor who ordered the urine and blood panel, not my OBGYN who I will see on the 26th. I bought 3 HPTs at the dollar store and plan to use them throughout the week to keep my mind at ease. My family doctor wanted me to come back in 2-3 weeks to do another urine pregnancy test, I was like,"Um, no thanks by that time I'll be seeing my baby on an ultra sound."
I googled it and apparently it has happened to a lot of women that they use a very early and sensitive HPT and get a , and then get excited and do a urine test with their doctors only to get a BFN. I KNOW I am pregnant, I have had two positive tests, one was the morning of the same day I did the urine test at the doctors, and I even showed the medical assistant and my doctor my positive HPT. So kind of stinks, but it's cool, not long until my ultrasound!

Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
I wanted to post here a few days ago but couldn't for some reason so I'm sorry about the delay.
Lily*Blossom, how weird about the test :s Well we know you are pregnant so I wouldn't worry too much, maybe the doctors office have a duff batch of tests.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone, I am feeling a little better after seeing the specialist midwife. I had to take a machine home to monitor my blood sugars and I have to fill in a food diary and so far everything has been normal. They said they don't like diabetic mothers to go overdue to I will likely have been induced come my due date
I also had my scan and it's great news.....the placenta in no longer low and baby is growing just above the 50th percentile so as long as I stick to my diabetic diet, things look positive for a natural birth. Of course I will be monitored closely on the 'high-tech' unit or high dependancy and probably won't be having a water birth but I'm ok with that and feel grateful that I could have this baby naturally. I know it's not set in stone but I will finalise everything towards the end with the obstetrician who specialises in GD.
Hope everyone is well, will be catching up today with all your posts as I seem to have missed alot in just a few days xxx

Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
Galaxy- Great news about your placenta moving upwards. That's wonderful. Also, I'm glad that there is a healthy outlook for you even though you found out about the Gestational Diabetes. Hope you are feeling better about things, and that everything is okay!
Still getting positive pregnancy tests, so I know I am preggo! LOL. Haven't been feeling as nauseous (yet) as I was with LM so hopefully everything is okay. I have not had one bit of spotting at all, and by this time I had spotted with LM, so maybe this pregnancy is just going to be entirely different than my last. Different would be SO nice, because already I am actively making healthy food choices and making sure I don't gain as much weight as I did last time.
How is everyone else doing???

Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
Emma, that's great news honey I am really pleased for you that they won't let you go over and your chances at a VBAC are good out of interest has anyone mentioned to you whether your cervix will need to be favourable to induce???? I am getting sick to death of being told that unless my cervix plays ball I can't be induced but I don't see wht not as I know plently of people who had that gel which ripened their undilated cervix and they went on to have a successful birth.
Does anyone know if I am in my rights to demand they induce me instead of just setting a section date??
Tiff - I'm sure thing's will be different for you this time around, I fully expected to have the full on bleed again this time around and in the back of my mind I did wonder whether she would be breech but no to both YAY!! I did have light pink spotting on and off throughout this pregnancy though and really bad sickness but nothing I couldn't handle!!
When is your next appointment Tiff??

Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
Georgi- I'm not sure how it all works in the UK, but IMO you should be allowed to have your baby however you want to. I would demand they induce you, maybe there is a liability form you can sign or something if they are worried? I also don't see why they cannot give you that gel just to ripen your cervix, it has NOTHING to do with your contractions. A lot of women just happen to start contractions because their cervix is favorable after the gel. Hope your little girl comes out soon sweetie!
My appointment is a week from today, Jan. 26th at 10 a.m. I am really praying for everything to be okay.

Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
tiff- I have my appointment thesame day to get my 12week ultrasound and other tests.
Georgi- here they have to let you do as you please unless there isa serious emergency. such as my csection i was not asked and it was not a choice but it wasn't scheduled either. I can tell you that my doctors told me the same thing, if your cervix and your body is not ready than your chances of a vaginal delivery are close to 0. I was definately one of those cases but I was also told that my chance of a csection in general was extremely high. The point is though that it is your body and you don't have to schedule anything, even my doctors who you can tell are fairly against me trying for a VBAC told me that if I wanted to try they would certainly support it but it wasn't recommended.

Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
Hi Georgi, they haven't said about my cervix and whether it should be favourable. I have thought about this and I think I will ask to be given the gel or the pessary to soften things up and although I know there is an increased chance of c-section with induction, I would at least like to give it a try. The reason they won't let me go over is because when diabetic mothers go overdue, there is a dramatic increase in stillbirths. The whole reason for the pessaries or gel is for women whose cervix is unfavourable so then when it has softened, they can break your waters. I know they have to be cautious with the syntocinon with us but the way I see it is they pumped me full of the stuff immediately after my section so that kind of contradicts what they have already done. This is my on e and only chance as we probably won't have any more children after this so I'm gonna try really hard to negatiate something with them.
Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
Thanks Tiff, Chris and Emma love th positive energy coming from you all!!
Well I have news.....................I have been having contractions roughly 4-8 mins apart since 4am I have just got back from the hospital and they have confirmed that I am indeed in labour they were able to do a stretch and sweep YAY!!! my cervix is only 0.5cm dilated but nice and soft the midwife doesn't think these contractions will ease off as they are nice and strong and regular (I was monitored for 30 minutes) but of course they sent me home which I fully expected and wanted I am now able to labour at home until such time I can't take the pain anymore.......how exciting!!!! The contractions are fairly strong and they radiate right around my back but I can certainly handle them at this stage. This could really be it now

Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
Hey everyone!! I have been trying my best just to chill out but maybe I have done too good a job my contractions have spaced out from average 3-4 mins apart to now 10-20 minutes apart.....will they just keep getting further and further apart??? They are still good and strong though!!
Re: Pregnancy Chat All Stages Welcome 2010
It doesn't mean that they aren't doing anything even though the contractions are getting further apart! I know someone who was in a similar situation as you, not dilated, and then the contractions began. The hospital told her not to go in until the contractions were 3-4 minutes apart, and she waited. It was her 3rd child, and she started to feel a lot of pressure, and when she got to the hospital she barely made it to the delivery room, the kid was crowning and out in 10 minutes! So hang tight sweetie, but also don't underestimate the time frame of those contractions, because they are still doing something!
The time is close, I can't wait for you to meet your baby girl!
