School Lunch in the US
http://fedupwithschoollunch.blogspot.com/
I just found this very interesting blog about school lunches in the United States. I remember how gross the food was when I was a kid but as an adult I just assumed I was being a picky, moody teenager!
You guys! What the heck is happening to our country?!!!!!! Our food options are unhealthy, kids don't play outside anymore, our kids are being taught in classes with 30+ kids to ONE teacher and it seems that this ratio is going to go up even higher.
It's really something for us parents and TAXPAYERS to think about.

Re: School Lunch in the US
wow that interesting, we dont have cooked lunches in Australia, unles syou go to boarding school. But Australia is up there with the USA with obesity issues. MOst child care centres now provide meals, but they are usually very healthy and balanced i guess public school systems are different to private there as they are here.
Have you ever watched the Jamie oliver tv shows were he goes ino schools to try and make thier lunches healthier?? he is very clever.
It is crazy isnt it!!
whatever happened to a sandwhich, peice of fruit and a milk lol

Re: School Lunch in the US
I've never heard of Jamie Oliver. I will have to check that out.
I think these things happen because so many parents are not involved in their children's educational experience.
I'm not really sure how we can fix it but I feel like it IS our responsibility to do something about it.
It's things like this that make home school or private education a real possibility for Owen. I'm not sure what route we will take yet but I'm glad I have the chance to read these things to educate myself.
