Constipation in babies??
Well for the last 2 days kiers has been struggling to get his poo out, he will scream everytime he trys and will just end up holding it in. Tonight when i went to change him he just couldnt hold it any longer but he pushed and it wouldnt budge, the poor wee thing was screaming and his ears were full of his tears. Hubby was trying to scoop it out while i held a warm flannel around his bum and applies vaseline and baby oil. In the end i rang the hospital, they are right accross the road from our house, they told me to come and get some KY jelly lube, so i came home and applied that but to no avail so in the end had to take him over and they inserted a suppositry, not nice for a 5 month old. anyway he got it out and it was a little bit bigger than a soft drink bottle lid, like off a bottle of coca cola, nurse said a 5 year old would cry too. we are not sure what caused it as he drinks a lot of water and only has 2 teaspoons of solids a day and the rest breastfed, jesses was constipated as a baby but no where near this bad, any thoughts to help him, i have tried the brown sugar in water which hasnt made a difference i want to stay as natural as possible. The only foods he has had is pumpkin and sweet corn.
I just hate seeing my baby in soo much pain, so any help would be fantastic, thanks in advance xxxx

Awwwwww honey....poor kiers that's just horrible for him and for you to have to watch, it sound's like you are doing everything possible to help him, Theo had the opposite today and I am sure it is to do with teething, I wonder whether babies can get constipated when they are teething?
When did you start feeding solids again??

I have been told that foods that start w/ "p" help with constipation. I would try giving him sweet peas or pears and that should get things moving again. Owen was not constipated but things were looking a little too firm and I gave him peas and that took care of things!
Let me know if it helps any!

Peaches seem to do the trick for LM. If she is pooing little rabbit bits, I just give her peaches, and by the end of the day, she's had a huge poo.
