How many have heard this?
My friend and her hubby have been trying to get pregnant for a while now, but no success. She's at the point where she wants them to both get tested and everything, but he's resistant and stubborn(story for later). Anyway, she's been doing lots of reading and researching to help get pregnant. And lo and behold came across an article about ky. The article says that ky does something to the sperm to keep them from swimming to the target. Needless to say, they use ky all the time, and now she's freaking out thinking that that's why they can't get preggo. I haven't looked it up yet, but wanted to see if anyone else had heard/read that anywhere.

Re: How many have heard this?
No way....surely not otherwise loads of people would be buying KY as a form of contraception??? It might slow down the sperm though??? that's why I would recommend Pre-seed as a friendly lube!!
Re: How many have heard this?
Oh I didn't mean to imply that it kills them, it's just that it kind of immobilizes them sort of from their "swim meet", thereby decreasing one's chances. I think that's what she said she went out and bought after reading that article. It's like $18 or something.
Off topic, but can anyone see my ticker, cause I can't

Re: How many have heard this?
Yep, KY, Astroglide, and probably most other personal lubricants are not "sperm friendy." Inhibits the sperm's swimming ability, like you said. Of course, that's according to the PreSeed people, lol. But they do back it up with scientific study.
We use PreSeed during my supossed fertile times and then switch back to Astroglide after that.

Re: How many have heard this?
I think with saliva it might have to do with the acidity/pH balance.

The Fertility Doctor that I have dealt with said that as all of these will in fact Kill sperm off, they just don't want to really advertise that and have teens going out and getting that and using it only...

Re: How many have heard this?
KY now has a "natural" form that is more like a woman's natural secretion. We use it, and we like it. You barely need any, and it's not thick and icky sticky like regular KY.

Re: How many have heard this?
Wow, that is so interesting. We usually don't use any lube. But I had SOOO no idea that saliva is bad for sperm. Hmm...
