Update on BF

Lactation specialist came today and we got her latch (still with the shield ) for a little bit more than usual on the right site what was good because, The flow was getting less n less on that side, But she said she is going go ahead and come back Monday morning with a R and R (not sure what it stands for) but she told me its so i feed her formilia through a tube through the nipple shield and put less n less fuiliar int here each day so she eventually pulling all breast milk. So that sounds good. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP lol at lest till i cover every option i can then i can say i truly tried lol

Leanne, I think what you've done so far is truly commendable and I really hope it works out, though at the same time, please don't beat yourself up if it doesn't. Your little girl has a fab Mummy who wants the best for her child and wants her to have the best in life. Well done once again x

Im not going beat my self up if it dont work i tryed teas pills pumping every hr if this dnt work i can say i coverd all options and be happy with my decisions

Hey Leanne my sis was having trouble but more on the supply side (she is small chested) and she finally had to go with formula. You have to do what is best for both of you and I think you have tried everything you can. Everyone is right you have done all that you can.

that's why she fusses because she was on the IV first few days, She has whats there and instead of pulling milk forward she lazy, I wouldn't say because of my boob size because i was B and now a D but currently she has thrush so her dr told me use pump and not fouce her feed till its gone so she don't associate the irritation with the breast. But soon as she clear up im going back to the shield because i noticed after i use the pump if she hungry now she will try go for the breast following he smell even though i got my shirt on. So getting there he he but like i said before if this last trick don't work i can say with out feeling guilty that i honestly gave it my all and at lest she got them first two week in. i got fenugreek babe been useing it for over a month with the mothers milk tea im just pumping now tried the shield with the tube and i dotn want every feeding time be screening andf tears she still getting breast milk so im not to bothered about it now i tried everything but thanks , And thanks for your support ladies

Hey Leanne! Wow, congrats to you for being so determined and I am very proud of you for trying because I am sure that must be tough!!!!!!!!!

I have been nursing for almost 23 months now, and I only know one tried and true way to increase your supply and that is either pump or nurse! THe more you do either or those the more you will make and it will get easier for her to get the milk out. Also, while she is nursing, have you tried to push the milk toward the nipple or sorta squeeze them to make the milk come down quicker?? You could also use the pump to start the flow comign real good then get her to latch! THat way teh hard part is over and she can just nurse easily

Good for you honey for doing all you can. What matters is that she gets breast milk. I finally pumped exclusively. I found that as the pump was pulling my breast outwards, I would actually squeeze the breast to make the flow come even harder, and I could empty my breast faster and get more milk that way. If I just left it up to the pump without squeezing at the same time, I barely got anything out.

what do you mean by squeezing? maybe i can try that my flow is 20 ml takes me all day make a 4 ounce bottle pumping every hour and what setting did you have the pump on i have the WIC medela lactation select

Way to go, Leanne for being so determined and trying everything. Like Ginny said, increased pumping or nursing will increase your supply - it signals to your body that more milk is needed. It takes a bit though - it doesn't increase immediately. Also, like Tiff, when pumping I squeezed my breast to increase the amount of milk coming out when pumping. I used to pump at a fairly low intensity at first, but then put it higher - to the point where it was still comfortable (mid-high on my Medela PISA). I hope that helps.
