Who Does The Housework?
I do the housework, the kids, the shopping, the bills and the food.He does the work.Sometimes i feel it's a little unfair, but most of the time,I don't mind doing the house stuff. What irritates me is when they add to the mess, like leaving everything laying around like clothes on the floor, drink cans in the bedroom...that annoys me!
Re: Who Does The Housework?
HA! i work 40 hours a week (or my paycheck will suffer), do the housework (laundry, dishes, cleaning, making food, taking care of the dogs, everything else), take care of the baby 85% of the time (he will get up on sunday morning sometimes and let me sleep in a little bit)! i do it all.
he works varied hours every week, hes salaried so if he leaves early its no biggie to him, and he sits on his ass! lol
the thing that bothers me the most is if he is sitting in his recliner, on the laptop, watching tv, and im trying to watch the baby, make her food, and do the dishes all at ones, he will holler at me "will you get me a drink?" im like, what are your legs broken?????? gurrr!

LOL,Penguins, that sounds so unfair ... My favourite is "what did your last servant die of?" LOL
Re: Who Does The Housework?
LOL, i love that saying!! Hubby earns the money, i spend it! lol,
well i do all the house stuff, cook clean, lawns, gardens, groceries, feed and bath kids etc, he has an hour with the kids a day when he gets home until they go to bed, we both tuck the kids in at night and we both have a turn at reading stories to them. on the weekends, he takes jess for one on one, but i still do all the house side of things, i dont mind, he is giving me a break from the kids at the weekend even if its for an hour so im not complaining.
I also hate when they leave things at their feet, i mean its not hard to pick up a glass and walk to the kitchen and put it on the bench! the things we do for our families!

Re: Who Does The Housework?
I do most of the house work, child care, cooking and grocery shopping.
Most of the time my DH is helpful and understanding of the fact that I feel overwhelmed with it all. However he does not understand my need to have a clean house. Dust and dirty dishes don't bother him!
He usually gives me a break in the evening and takes Owen. For instance, he is trying to get him to bed right now.
He also puts the baby monitor in the living room until he comes to bed (12-1) and so I go to bed around 10:30-11:30 so I do get some good sleep. We kind of tag team with Owen on the weekends.

Re: Who Does The Housework?
Well, my husband doesn't do much as far as housework, he will vacuum every once and a while when I am cleaning the bathrooms or something. Or if there are last minute guests coming over that he invited, he pitches in with the tidying. I do most of the deep cleaning and such. He will clean up the dishes after a nice sunday dinner though now, because we have a dishwasher We never did in England, so I always did the dishes. I can't complain about him leaving messes though, he picks up after himself which helps a lot. He actually gets annoyed with me if I throw my clothes on the floor
He doesn't really offer to help out with the baby at night anymore, because she has a routine now. When she was really newborn, and up every few hours, he would let me sleep and take charge of her until he went to bed at around midnight, so it was nice. Now that she falls asleep at 7 p.m, I do the night waking. He didn't even offer to take her when I was REALLY ill the other night, although he did take charge of her all night on our anniversary, it was brilliant. He changes her stinky diapers on the weekend when he is home, and he gives her a bath every night, and gets her dressed for bed. Then he holds her and plays with her while I get her dinner, it is cute to watch.
If I ask him, he will watch her for a few hours on weekends each day, so I can go to the pool and sun bathe, but he won't offer if I don't ask.

Re: Who Does The Housework?
You know..... I know I am lucky in a lot of ways with my hubby. However, I think it has to do with the fact that when his son (my dear step-son) was born 5 years ago, he had to do everything for him, because my husband's ex wife was a drugged out pill popper. I think if Lily Mae was his first kid, if I were his first wife, then I would be a lot more frustrated, and he wouldn't be as helpful as he is now.
24pengiuns, don't worry, your DF will learn, you will grow together, and as life gets busier, he will start helping you more. Men take a while to become more responsible. My DH is 31 and still learning

Re: Who Does The Housework?
yeah, hes great when hes around... i guess your one that doesnt know our history of him going out and staying out with his friends all night. thats mainly where he needs to grow up and spend more time with his family. i will happily do the housework and take care of kaydance if i felt like he cared more about us. things are slowly improving now... i just hope it lasts longer than a week this time.
Re: Who Does The Housework?
I'm sorry, I didn't realise It can be hard when things are like that, I'm sure he does care about you both, but he just has a funny way of showing it, I'm glad things are improving tho xx

Re: Who Does The Housework?
lol! we are thinking spring of 09. nothing huge cause we have NO money! ha, we think we may do it at his grandpas old house, that we are moving into towards the end of this year (his grandpa passed away almost 2 years ago). it has a huge yard and i think it would make for a pretty outdoor ceremony. other than that not a whole lot planned yet, cause we arent sure how much money we are going to have for it in the end. we should be figuring that out pretty soon though.

Hun, I had a big wedding and to be honest, you are so wrapped up in each other, nothing else really matters on the day, just taking those vows and getting your ring on your finger.....oh and bedtime of course x

Re: Who Does The Housework?
yeah, we are going to have a big wedding in the sense that there are going to be a ton of people there to share the day with us, but the ceremony and reception itself isnt going to be huge. does that make sense? lol! we arent going to spend a fortune in other words, cause we dont have it even if we wanted to!
Re: Who Does The Housework?
