What are your holiday traditions?
We always watch "A Christmas Story" and "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve.
We also make gingerbread houses, that is one of my favorite things to do!
Growing up, 12 days before Christmas Eve, we would always choose a family we know and do the 12 days of Christmas. Every night, for 12 days, we would ding dong ditch something on their doorstep with a note like,"On the first day of Christmas my true friend gave to me.... some ooey gooey rice Krispie treats!!"
It just went on and on, then the final night we would reveal our selves with a Carol.

Re: What are your holiday traditions?
that sounds fun tiff!! hehe, me and DF dont really have any traditions yet (im sure we will get some going with kids now ) but my family always has a huge christmas dinner on christmas eve, that always includes a honey baked ham. lol i remember when i was like 14 my mom said she wasnt going to do a ham that year and i told her i wasnt going to eat then. she caved, and we have had ham every year (still, me and DF go to her house on christmas eve and his famillies on christmas day). then after dinner we all get cozy round the tree and the christmas "elf" (hehe, me when i was little, now usually one of my nephews) passes out the presents one at a time and we all watch each gift getting opened! its fun
Re: What are your holiday traditions?
Every year, my dad and I set up the Christmas tree and decorations and I wrap all the gifts for him. We used to do this together as a family (dad, brother, and me) but of course, brother got too busy lots of times so now it's just a special time for my dad and me. I love it b/c I get to spend time w/him PLUS I get to see what everyone else is getting for Christmas...hehe
My dad has always played Santa as Christmas...not in the sense of dressing up, but he does the stockings. I always go and wrap the gifts and I separate out all the candy and goodies and fill our stockings and hang them on the wall next to the tree. Each child (dad's grandkids) and each adult (dad's kids) get one gift from dad and then everyone gets a stocking from "Santa".
Oops, gotta go on break....I'll be back to finish

Re: What are your holiday traditions?
We don't have any traditions. We're not "tradition" people. But, maybe it's time. I do like the idea of the 12 Days of Christmas idea. But, I don't know if I would remember to do it every night!

Re: What are your holiday traditions?
Yeah, the 12 days sounds like a cool idea. Only I don't have any family round here lol.
We don't have any, but I can't wait to have kids so we can start our own

Re: What are your holiday traditions?
Ok anyway...continuation of my earlier post...
Christmas MORNING, DH and I (and Kenadi this year) will go to DH's grandparents' house...they do a Christmas breakfast instead of a big lunch, its loads of fun and all the kids come in their PJs
Christmas afternoon, we'll do lunch w/my dad's family, then for dinner, we'll either go back to DH's grandparent's or to DH's parents for a light dinner. This year will be different b/c DHs parents are going out of town (to DH's stepmom's family's house), so I guess they will be pretty much cut out of the equation... lol.
Also, w/my dads family, my grandma puts all the kiddos' names in a pot and they all draw a name (I will have to draw a name for K). Whoever's name you get, that's who you buy a gift for. Saves lots of money, as you only have to buy for one kid and everyone gets a gift! We do the same w/my immediate family (my sisters' kids and my brother's kid as well as K will each draw names for each other).
I guess they are all pretty simple traditions in themselves, but altogether, it makes the holidays a very special time

Re: What are your holiday traditions?
Well things here switch back and forth everyother year due to trading off dd.
I've started Thanksgiving at my house. I have a bottom half of a house, 2 bedroom...and it's not all that big. My kitchen is pretty small actually. Last year I crammed 20 people in for a sit down dinner. I'll be doing that again this year. Everyone brings a dish, and I make the turkey and pies. I will not have dd this year.
Christmas Eve I have dd this year. We usually just hang out, or go drive around looking at Christmas Lights and look for Rudolph's nose in the sky (watertower work wonders).
Christams Day we've been going to the man's parents house. The have all their kids(5) and all the grandchildren and great grands come over...it's pretty much a madhouse, they also have a sit down dinner for about 25.
My family does Christmas a few days after Christmas. My sisters a nurse, so she's always working either Eve or Day. We just hold out a few days.
I like the idea of drawing names for the adults. We did that one year, it worked out great. We still bought for the kiddos tho...heck, it IS Christmas!
