I Can Look Back Now And Laugh But...
Last night, the most terrifying thing happened.I went to bed early last night as I was tired from being up really early. So off I went, took baby gurl with me as usual.Asked hubby if he would be up...he said he would work so I could put the baby in the bed with me instead of the bassinet!Anyway,I put her in bed with me,we fall asleep...
However many hours later...I wake up and look for the baby next to me,the bed is empty!!!!!!!!!!!! PANICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I move the cover thinking she's slipped under,NO! I move the pillows, hands shaking, heart pounding NOT THERE!I tear the covers off the bed NOTHING. I get on my knees and look under the bed,no!Run around to the other side... NO BABY!
I run back around and look in her bassinet nothing....So finally.I RUN out of our room, down the hall down the stairs and lean over the rail at the bottom into the lounge where hubby is working. He looks up alarmed and doesnt even have time to ask what is wrong before I scream; " WHERE'S THE BABY WHERE IS THE BABY??????????"
He looks shocked and confused....and finally sais "babe, what ARE you talking about do you mean Teo?"
At that moment I look down and realise that I am holding my baby,in one arm!She is perfectly fine aside from looking for some boob, she is blinking with sleepiness and laying in my left arm....
Ok ,so NOW you laugh,I saw the funny side after I calmed down a bit.I sat shaking on the stairs and hubby got me some water...
The ONLY explanantion I have is that I must have been in a DEEP sleep, picked the baby up to feed her and then woken up fully only to see she wasn't in the bed. NOw HOW one canbe holding a 17lb baby in their arms the ENTIRE time and searching high and low without realising is beyond me.Like I said, but perhaps I was sleepwalking? I have never done it before so I have no idea what it feels like.I remember everything from the moment that the bed was empty until I got on the stairs and realised that I was holding her. It's one of the strangest experiences I have EVER had!
Anyway, thought I'd share because now I look back and think how silly.

Wow, you must have been tired!!
I thought you were going to say hubby had her to let you sleep, I can't believe you were holding her!
I think you need a nap during the day my friend.

Re: I Can Look Back Now And Laugh But...
Dude, it's like the classic case of "where's my bloody sunglasses, oops there on my head,"
Only WORSE! Hun you must have been frantic.
I know it wasn't funny at the time, but it does make me giggle now.

Yikes! I bet your heart was pounding!
My husband recently went thru a couple weeks of thinking Lucy was in bed with us. I guess he was dreaming he was snuggling with her. Many times I came to bed later than him, or climbed back into bed after a midnight potty run, and my climbing into bed would rouse him. He would immediately start panicking checking the bed and sheets and UNDER ME lol. He was convinced since he couldn't find her I must be laying on her, even though I kept patiently telling him Lucy was safe in her crib. He would want ME to go check for him lol. The next morning he would vauguely remember it, but I don't think he ever woke up all the way.
Lucy sleeps in our room, but not in our bed. (Mainly because he has no sense of such things, many times I have rescued the shihtsu after she has snuck into our bed and he has squashed her with his leg or something!). Never has, lol.

OMG, Tiff, did you forget the make up? That scared me!
Angel, I used to have similar experiences with Molly. Because I would feed her on my side in bed, I would wake up thinking that she had gone under the covers and panic. That must have been horrible.
