Digital Scrapbooking
I know of few of you do digital scrap booking and I'm really interested in learning how to do it.
Can you guys tell what to do to get started? I guess I have to have a special program, right?
I hate to invest a lot of money in this since I don't even know if it's something I will enjoy doing or have the time to do.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Re: Digital Scrapbooking
Lou Lou -- I won't be much help since I do paper scrapbooking which requires a certain amount of supplies and tools etc. I have tons and am regretting that with my new job, Kian and my dissertation to be finished I have hardly any time for it. However, I am looking forward to start scrapping again very soon.
I also would be interested what programs people use of digi scrapping? Helen? Georgi?

Re: Digital Scrapbooking
Well to be honest with you ladies I do play around with photo's a lot on the PC using photoshop and Mircosoft Picture It but I don't really do digi scrapboking like Nicki I also do paper scrapbooking. I would say Helen is the best person to ask about this!!
Re: Digital Scrapbooking
Oh great! Thanks, Georgi. I use Photoshop as well for just working on pictures, but not really digi scrapbooking.
Georgi -- Have you started scrapping Theo's pictures? I would be interested in seeing some of your work. I have not really started on Kian's pics, hopefully soon though.

I am almost too embarrassed to say but I have completed 1 layout I have made a start on a special baby book for him but I will definately start putting more time aside to do some pages of Theo and when I do I will proudly show them off!!
Re: Digital Scrapbooking

oh i am SOOO guilty... i LOVE scrapbooking (paper kind) and i have TONS AND TONS of stuff for kaydance first year scrapbook, and well, she turned a year old today, and ummmm, i havent even started it!!!!
to tell you the truth though the main reason i havent started isnt so much lack of time, or lack of supplies as it is i have been out of photo paper forever, and havent printed out the pics i want to use!! haha, i really need to bite the bullet and go to the drug store and just have them printed for me so i will quit procrastinating! lol!

Haha, Nika, I do the same thing. I have all the pics digitally and then either don't have paper or don't have ink.

I don't have that excuse, I just push paper around for far too long and then usually it's "Oooo is that the time already!!" I will take a pic of the one I have done already tomorrow and upload for you both! x

Re: Digital Scrapbooking
I don't have any programs like that. My DH bought some software for me for Christmas but I haven't had time to play with it and see if it will do what I want.
Paper scrapping would be easier but I don't have a really good place to set up and store supplies..... but I'm working on it!!!!
Before Owen was born we purchased a 52" flat screen TV and moved into our formal living room. We have a bonus room that we had turned into a media room but now that we have the TV we don't use that room.... so I'm going to turn it into my guest room and my "creative spot"! I'm so excited! My mom and I are going on a road trip tomorrow to find goodies for my new room! It's the first time I'll have left the state without Owen!!!!

Re: Digital Scrapbooking
That sound's brilliant Lou Lou and just what you need, your own creative space!!
If you are able to do paper scrapbooking I personally feel that this is more personal than digi scrapbooking because you get to feel the different textures and you can raise parts of the layout up or cut pieces away etc... that's just my opinion!

Re: Digital Scrapbooking
Lou Lou -- that does sound great!!! How exciting. When we moved to our new house last August, I also created a dedicated crafting area and I had so much fun setting it up. Now I just need to get back to scrapping...

Re: Digital Scrapbooking
I got all the things I need for my "creative room!"
My mom and I drove to Birmingham, Alabama and went to this really cool store. We were in it for FOUR hours!!!!
I got a leopard print coverlet. It's not what you think. It doesn't scream safari. It's not a loud print. The colors are VERY soft and muted. It's sort of a milk chocolate with cream background. Then I found orange pillows and brown and cream pillows to put on the bed. I found drapes that are orange but the bottom 18" or so are brown. I also found a couple of brown, orange and lime green vases and a few pictures that have all those colors in them too.
Then, I am going to make an L shaped desk for one corner of the room. I am going to take burlap and skirt the table out of it. That way I can store things underneath but it will be hidden by the fabric.
I also have a white chandelier that I am going to paint black and hang it above my desk. I can't wait to get started!!!!

Re: Digital Scrapbooking
I know it's not digital scrapbook, but I went to a paper scrapbooking class today and loved it. I have been trying to find out more about the cricut machines and what they do but I'm not quite sure. Does anyone know?
Re: Digital Scrapbooking
Emma - a cricut is a computerized cutting tool. It has shapes and letters etc. programmed on a cartridge and you pick what you want and it cuts it out of card stock or other paper. It's all computerized and you have the shapes premade so to speak.
