Eating with spoon...?
Was wondering when our toddlers will start feeding themselves with a spoon?
I've been feeding Audrey myself or she feeds herself with her fingers....but today I decided to let her dip a spoon into her cereal and guide it into her mouth. Is it too early to start teaching her? My niece is 2 years old and she's feeding herself, but I feel asthough Audrey should be having the motivation to want to feed herself and not let me do it. She seems to like it when I feed her....never once bothered her and sometimes we have messy dinners that make me want to feed her instead of her trying ot feed herself.
Anyways any feedback would be great...thanks

Re: Eating with spoon...?
haha im not really there yet with kaydance, but my thought on it is that there is not "right age" to start those types of things. i think you need to trust your instinct on weather you think audrey is ready to start learning that or not, and not have to high of expectations when she is young. i dont see how it could harm anything to try, if she cant do it, just keep working with her, or put it off for a few weeks and try again! i would just make sure to praise her and make a big deal out of it when she does get the spoon in her mouth, and not worry about the mess, cause im sure there will be a huge mess while our LOs are learning to feed themselves hahaha!!

My sister started out by letting my nephew have his own spoon at meals. At first he just played with it but then he started using it. She said it was easier and faster than guiding the spoon especially in the beginning. That way he felt like he was a big boy but she got the food in his mouth too!
Good luck with it! Let us know how it goes!!!!

You know... I think that it's never to early to let them try it. If she shows interest and seems to understand that she can feed herself.... then go for it. She may make a mess of it at first.... but she'll get it down quick enough.
BTW I love your newest avatar, Audrey is a doll face... gorgeous eyes hun!!
