A New Car Seat Thread
I know we've talked off and on about car seats but I had some questions and wanted some input.
Owen is still in his infant seat and he is still back facing. I just realized today that his seat goes to 22 pounds and he currently weighs about 21 pounds! I need to get a new car seat but was thinking I need to keep him rear facing until he is 1 but I went online today and read that we should leave them rear facing as long as possible..... up to age two!
For those of you with babies that are over one do you still have them rear facing? When did you turn them around or when do you plan on turning them around?

Re: A New Car Seat Thread
Hey Lou Lou!
Thane is still rear facing and he is 15 months old. He is only about 22 lbs. What I did was buy one of those convertible seats where he can be rear facing til he is 30 lbs I think and then he can be front facing til he is 40 lbs. I bought one for mama and daddy's car and one for my truck. I got two different kinds from walmart. I got the Scenera (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8054497) for mama and daddy since he isn't in it but once a week (Its about $50) and then I got the Comfort Something...hang on...Comfort Sport (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10099847) by Graco for him in my truck. The only thing with these being rear facing is that its really hard to change how tight the straps are, so I would put Owen in it before you attach it to your vehicle and make any changes to how tight the straps are before you put it in there for good. But, I really have no complaints with either seat. he loves them! He can see and sits up high, so its much better than his infant seat (he was in it til 13 months). Hope that helps!!!!
Oh and i am planning on keeping him rear facing til at least 18 months, maybe longer

Re: A New Car Seat Thread
We changed Molly's seat to a forward facing one when she was about 10 months old I think. We could have kept her in the rear facing one but she really hated it and it made car journeys a nightmare. She was so much happier sitting up and being able to have a proper look around, plus she can see Mum and Dad. I'm glad that we did it and we did make sure it was a good quality one for safety reasons. We bought a recaro, which is the company who are famous for making racing car seats!
Re: A New Car Seat Thread
I bought a 3-in-1 before she turned 1 because she outgrew her infant carseat and was rear facing until a few weeks after she turned 1 . I found it amazing, the space you have AFTER you switch it over to front facing, hehe!!

Re: A New Car Seat Thread
I had an inexpensive car seat from walmart for the first 6 months. She got to tall for it however about a month and a half ago.SO I got a rear facing/convets to front facing seat.it's pretty comfy for her, washable etc... so I'm happier with that althugh I cant carry her around in ti.She was getting too heavy anyway.
