Re: Morning Sickness ??
Unfortunately I suffered with hyperemesis gravidarum, for most of the pregnancy. I was able to go to work for a grand total of 2 and a half weeks. It stopped the minute Molly was pulled out of me. I was even vomiting up blood and had to have anti thrombosis stockings on as I could barely move. Even going in the shower was a challenge.

Re: Morning Sickness ??
Do you think it's true that vomitting equals GIRL and feeling sick equals BOY???
I was never actually sick, there were occasions where I ran to the loo and heaved and I did my fair share of dry heaving but I was NEVER actually sick!

I think it's probably a myth Cleo. My husbands cousin was like me and ended up in hospital with both pregnancies and she had two boys. She was hoping that if she has a girl then she would feel better but lost all hope when she found out that I was having a girl. I know that my hcg levels were really high and that is supposed to be the cause of nausea and vomiting but I think there are many theories as to what causes it.
Re: Morning Sickness ??
I guess it may work like that for some pregnacies and others not.

yeah, i got a little bit nauseous here and there, but was never actually sick, and ive got a beautiful little girl lol!! but i dont think anyone in my family has ever gotten morning sickness, so maybe its more of a hereditary thing???
Re: Morning Sickness ??
I just posted in the myths forum, but vomiting doesn't always mean girl, and nauseated, a boy. My friend is on her second pregnancy, she is having a boy, and her first child is a boy as well. She was throwing up well into her third trimester with her first son, and with this baby, she hasn't felt ill hardly at all.
PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN ladies. As soon as I upped my protein, I never threw up again during my pregnancy. I hated beef while pregnant, so Protein bars saved my life. I used to break the 20 gram ones in half and eat one half before bed, and another half before I got out of bed, it helped so much, you don't even know.
I also ate eggs every morning. If I ate anything else, I would feel sick for the rest of the day.

Re: Morning Sickness ??
Tiff, I hated beef too. Also the smell of lavender and clothes washing liquid/detergent, shower gel and shampoo made me feel so sick. I had to get everything fragrance free.
Re: Morning Sickness ??
well, just got my BFP and no morning sickness yet. No real sensitivity/aversion to any smells so far either. I've been eating a ton of italian prunes (plums) but that's not unusual... I love them and have 4 lbs to eat up before they go bad!

Re: Morning Sickness ??
I don't remember exactly when it started. I immediately felt like I was coming down with the flu, and it just never came completely or went away. It may have been around the 6 week mark when I started throwing up. I got that joy almost the entire 9 months. Mostly it would happen when I was brushing my teeth - it would make me gag and that was all she wrote. And I don't know about that girl thing, cause my mom said she was always sick the entire 9 months every time she was pregnant, and she had 5 girls and 2 boys......
One thing that did help, the ob/gyn suggested (towards the end of course) that I try some ginger capsules. They seemed to finally the cycle. Or it was just convenient timing...... I did alot of protein the whole time. I had gestational diabetes, and if I didn't eat before bed and during the middle of the night my blood sugar would 'crash' and I would be so cold it wasn't even funny, so I had alot of late night snacks and breakfasts that would be mainly protein -- I was very obsessed with cheese.

Hun, I have been there too. I even vomited clots of blood from where I had torn my throat through all the dry wretching because there was nothing left to vomit. I might try those ginger capsules though before I get pregnant next time, Im also thinking of acupuncture.
Re: Morning Sickness ??
Helen you are SO lucky you aren't feeling too poorly
I started feeling nauseous around 6.5 weeks. It got really bad around 9.5 weeks, then started to get better around 14 weeks, then went completely away by 17 weeks.

Re: Morning Sickness ??
I've definitely started getting it. Hasn't been *too* bad in the mornings, usually starts a bit later. No puking, just a queasy tummy. Not much rhyme or reason to it, doesn't matter if I've eaten or not or what I've eaten. Also, hiccups when you're already nauseous suck!
I do get shaky and lightheaded if I go more than ~3 hours without eating. I've been eating bites of protein bars in the morning but I generally can't stand that much sweet later in the day.
Just tried ginger altoids with no luck. Tomorrow I'll be stocking up on ginger ale and sprite, I finished the last of my grapefruit soda this morning. Anything carbonated and not caffeinated or over-sweet. even Coke Zero is too sweet tonight.
