Ok this gall bladder thing is starting to look like a jinx from this place!

I had a miserable night last night. My chest and back hurt sooo bad I could not lay down because then the pain was unbearable. So I sat up all night. Threw up a couple times (not flu, just the muscle spasms), had to take a shower at 3 am because it was in my hair and everything. sorry if this is

Anyways today the doctor thinks it is my gall bladder. Did blood work today and have an ultrasound Thursday and onward from there.

This is the 4th time this pain thing has happened. The first time was the day they kept me at the hospital and started inducing Lucy.... Last time I went to the urgent care and they said it was an inflamation of the lining of my lungs.

Lou Lou - did you hear back from your tests?

DM - I'm sooo sorry you are having troubles!
I got my blood work back and they said it was all within normal ranges and wanted to do and ultrasound. At that time, I was feeling better and the doctor said I could wait and see what happens.... so I'm just praying that it was just a bug or something!

Keep us posted! It's NOT fun to be that sick especially with a little baby at home!

OMG another gall bladder issue? You poor thing, I am so sorry! It really must be a curse around here!

I just had my gallbladder looked at as well.
Did the whole catscan thing where you lay in a tube for 1 hour and the pump a buncha stuff into to watch how it works.
Also had an ultrasound of my whole midsection.
They still can't find what's wrong...and now I owe $3k for nothing.

Bummer! I hope you figure out your problem soon. The bottle of vicodin was the only bright spot in the whole day yesterday to answer your question. lol. It allowed me to get a good nights sleep and I feel fine again today.

Got the ultra sound today. Not near so much fun as ultrasounds of lucy! Won't probably hear back til monday with that and the blood work.

The technician said the reason so many new mothers have gall bladder problems is when the babies kick during pregnancy the gall bladder gets most of the punnishment and can be damaged.

Finally heard back on my bloodwork and stuff. It is not my gall bladder. It is my pancreas. I am apparantly having acute pancreatis attacks. The dr's assisstant was pretty vauge on the phone. I have to go in on Monday and get more bloodwork, then a cat scan, and a consultation with some kind of specialist, I can't remember the name. I was at a store checkout when she called.

Anyways when I go in on Monday for the bloodwork they will have all the paperwork for the other doctor and ct scan ready for me, so I will have more info then.

Since then I had a CT scan and more bloodwork and, and, and, lol. Thanks to Lucy I have seen more doctors in the last year than I saw in the 10 years before this! Today we met with a specialist (gastroentologist) who wants to do one more set of bloodwork to rule out one possible cause. But then again he also has me scheduled to meet with a surgeon tomorrow to arrange to get my (yup, we are back to that) gall bladder removed.

He said again pregnancy is a very common cause of these types of issues, and while I do not have gall stones I most likely am getting teeny tiny ones like sand that are blocking the entrance to my pancreas when they leave the gall bladder and causing the problem, but they are so small they don't show up on cat scans but form a kinda sludge. So the solution is to take the gall bladder out and see if that fixes the problem.

I am going to be out of town for a couple weeks so it will have to be after that. Oh yeah, and I am going to smack my husband if he tells me one more time his gall bladder pain was so much worse than what I have had. He always does that, he minimizes whatever pain I am going thru and it really makes me angry. He says I have a very low pain tolerance, when everyone else (including my chiropractor) says I have a very high one. I told how mad he made me in the car as we were leaving the specialist and he just got all smart ass. I was this close to screaming at him while we were waiting in the exam room and he started it....

Sigh, this has been sooo frustrating.

So the specialist was a Gastroenterologist. He was so young, it made me think of Doogie Howser. When I wanted to work thru a hospital he didn't want to he started swinging his stethoscope back and forth - he looked about 12 at the time.

Anyways, they can't seem to determine what has caused the pancreatitis. They say most likey it is some type of sludge from the gall bladder blocking the opening to the pancreas, but it is such fine stuff it doesn't show up on the cat scan. They say the normal procedure in this case is to remove the gall bladder, and that fixes over 90% of people. If that doesn't fix things then they do more stringent testing to figure out what is really the problem.

The surgeon acted like it is no big deal, he says this is a very common, low risk surgury, and he has done over 4000 of them. So I guess I am getting my gall bladder out on Dec. 30th. That was the only opening he had not right before Christmas.

Meanwhile the chiropractor gave me some supplements that he said would clean it all out so I wouldn't need to have the surgery. The supplements immediately took away the little twinges, and I haven't had an acute pancreatis attack in over two months. But the husband says I can't rely on that, and since we have maxed out our health insurance payments with Lucy being born it is free so I have to get it out before the end of the year.

I feel so much better since having mine removed. The recovery time is pretty quick. You will need someone that can take care of Lucy for at least the first full 24 hours but after that you should be able to take care of her more and more each day. I think if took me a full week to feel really good again.
I had very fine stones too but they sure did cause a lot of pain. I didn't realize until after the surgery how much I had been experiencing. The only weird problems I have had are: For the first two weeks I had horrible pain on my right side when I would lay down. I could only sleep on my right side and I sometimes have bad reactions to foods that are spicy or fatty.

It was still totally worth it. Go for it! Consider it your Christmas present to yourself!!!!!
