Upset tummy since giving birth....
I get random upset stomach problems about twice a week since I gave birth. I'll get intestinal cramps and terrible diarrhea for no apparent reason. It seems to strike in the middle of the night usually, but today it's been happening all day. I never had this problem before I gave birth.
Any ideas? Do you think my intestines got messed up or something from being squished by a giant baby???
I have to take immodium to stop the attacks, otherwise I am on the toilet off and on for hours.
I know it sounds gross, but I just wanted your opinions.

could be your gallbladder. That's how my problems started. If you start to have pain high up in your tummy or to the right side up high I would have it checked out.

Re: Upset tummy since giving birth....
Thanks hun. I don't think it's my gall bladder, I don't have any pain under my right ribs or anything, and the problem hasn't gotten really bad or anything. Unfortunately we don't have health insurance right now, so I can't know for sure.
I was reading up, and I think I may have irritable bowel syndrome, which I believe is from a lack of good flora bacteria in my gut, I was given antibiotics a lot through my pregnancy because of UTI infections. I think I am going to start a pro-biotic acidophilus tablet and stay on it regularly for about 60 days and see if it helps. Plain yogurt just doesn't have enough of the stuff.

well, I totally feel your pain! Tummy troubles suck!!!!
Hope your plan helps. There's nothing worse than being stuck in the bathroom with your baby screaming in the other room!!!!
Feel better!!!!!

Do you notice if it happens after you eat or drink something dairy??? I would have the gurgglies and then have to run to the bathroom after an ice cream sandwich or whatever is rich in dairy.
I think I've heard gallbladder problems are quite common after pregnancy aswell.
And I've had pain in the early morning, similar to what you speak of, but so bad I could barely walk to the bathroom, this was before I had Audrey and had no clue what it was.

Re: Upset tummy since giving birth....
Hey Gutter. I just saw your post here. I am starting to notice that I have terrible tummy issues after eating greasy or spicy foods. I should have health insurance within the next month or so.... hopefully I can get this figured out.
I don't seem to have problems with dairy... I never have. I can still drink glasses of chocolate milk and not have any problems.
I had quite a few antibiotics shot in me during my last 6 weeks of pregnancy.... I think what may have happened is that it broke down a lot of the good bacteria in my gut... which has caused problems. I am going on a probiotic course.... my mom is sending me a really great acidophilus 12 supplement that I am going to take for a month and see if it helps the tummy troubles!!
I seem to have terrible attacks at least once a week!

Re: Upset tummy since giving birth....
hey tiff! wow, i could have written that, when i had my gallbladder problems it was only spicy/fatty/greasy foods that made it bad. actually the night i landed in the ER was cause i ate onion rings for lunch lol!! but i really hope you get your insurance soon so you can get it checked. they even told me since my gallstones werent blocking anything i could leave them be if i wanted to, but the flare ups could occur at any time and they recommended my just getting the gallbladder removed and im glad i did! the recovery from surgery was less than a week and i havent had any problems since! i hope you get it worked out soon!
