Messed up Cycle? Empty Messed up Cycle?

Post  justbeth Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:31 pm

So, I had posted a few days back, that I recently got off the pill last month, started my period on Dec 25th and was due for my period this past wed or thurs (21st or 22nd) I still haven't gotten it yet, I know it's only the 24th, but Im impatient lol.

My cycles before the pill were always pretty normal, every 28 days. I know that after getting off the pill your cycles can be off and be longer for the first couple months or so.

Now, Im not temping yet b/c were not really trying, but not preventing either, but according to Fertility Friend my "predicted" O date was the 7th, with my fertile Days being the 4th-7th. We did have sex on the 3rd, then on the 7th and then again like a week ago.

I know we didnt have much loving this month so far..(we both work and I go to school nights, so doesnt leave a ton of time lol)

Anyways I tested on Monday the 19th for I couldn't resist..got a negative
Tested again on Thurs morn and again neg

Im debating if I want to test again tomorrow morning or next week sometime if I don't get my period next week but honestly Im really really wanting to test tomorrow lol but I know if will prob just be negative and its just that my cycles are all crazy right now.

Ugg sorry to bore everyone with all my details, I will be honest I would be extatic if I got a BFP now, even though we aren't really "trying"

So..what do you guys think Im so new at all this stuff

Beth -- I won't be able to really help, but I can tell you that when I went of BCP after 8 years, my cycles came back pretty regularly immediately. I used to have 28 days cycles and after BCP they were 28-30days all the time. So maybe that is the same for you.... I don't know, just trying to help.

I'm with Sky - I have always had a 29-30 cycle and went right back to that when I quit BC. I had one wacky 33 day cycle but I think it was stress induced.

I would say give yourself a few more days ..... do you think you ovulated? Any O pains?

While some women do bounce back very quickly, some take several months. As I told you, I had two slightly longer cycles after quitting BC. Also, and you're probably not going to like hearing this, but having an anovulatory cycle or two after quitting BC isn't uncommon either. FF's prediction is purely just speculation at this point because it doesn't have a prior history to base it on, you don't temp, and didn't use any OPKs -- which all ok by the way! I know you're impatient, but worrying about it isn't going to solve anything. I'd try to wait it out because you honestly don't know when/if you O'ed and seeing yet another BFN gets depressing. Hang in there justbeth!

I know, Beth you are right, I prob didn't O, and since I don't temp then theres no way of telling and I realize that FF's prediction were just speculations.

I go to the OBGYN for my reg pap on the 3rd so I wil def let her know what's going on.

justbeth, not trying to be a downer here, but your doctor/nurse is just going to tell you to go home and keep trying. My nurse practioner says she just laughs (not literally) when she has 20-somethings who come in and say they're not pregnant after 2 months. There's absolutely no reason for them (or you!) to be concerned, particularly after quitting BC.

What you can do, is continue tracking your cycle just as you are until you and hubby decide you are actively trying. That'll give you a good idea what to expect from your cycle. Then you can start trying to pinpoint ovulation (if you wish) using ovulation predictor tests, temping, or even the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor like I use (but that has it's disadvantages too).

IF, and it's a very big IF for you!, you see a pattern of suspected annovulation, short cycles, or really long cycles, then you'll have amnuition, so to speak, for getting help later.

But for now girl, just chill! It'll all be all right.

Oh, I just meant that I go to the OB on the 3rd for my reg pap and I will of course let her know that I have stopped the pill and that we wish to start trying this year , and that if I don't have my period by then, I will let her know, but they ask you that anyways when you go when your last period was.

Im not really all that worried about t right now, I now its normal Im just impatient as hell lol but I know everything will be just fine! Sorry to act like such a worry wort lol and ask so many questions

THanks guys!

I think that's good news justbeth. I know that might seem odd, because you were wishing for a BFP instead. But I look at it that your first cycle off BC was 33 days. Not bad really. I bet next month it'll be shorter (or nine-months long!). Your body is getting back to handling things on its own. And like Toffee says, creating a more baby-friendly environment.

Hope you're not experiencing bad cramps or anything.

I was actually happy to see her lol! It put my mind at ease knowing my body is starting to get back to normal on it's own , Im suprised it didn't take longer, so 33 days post pill aint bad at all.
