Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
Mel Hope you get the support you need with your upcoming IVF appointment, we will all be here for you.
I'm a little excited today actually as I got my new saliva ferning thingy and it's so cute, only the size of a lipstick. I tested it out to see how it work and it's really clear and easy to interpret.

I don't think so. It's my understanding that the high risk of twins from IVF is because they usually implant 2 fertilised eggs in the hope that at least one will take. Because of my unicornuate uterus ANY pregnancy would be considered high risk so it's doubtfull they would risk putting 2 eggs in! It's not impossible for a woman with my condition to have twins but it is VERY risky. I will be very happy with one baby though
Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
Mel, I would think that they would implant more than one fertilized egg because there's a chance they won't all stick. But in your case especially, if more than one did implant, they would want to perform "selective reduction." Don't worry about stuff like that.....focus on the next step first!
I mentioned before that our neighbors with twins had IUI and DID have more than the two implant but chose to reduce that number for the health of mom and the babies. And they went on to have a surprise 3rd baby all on their own!
Temps are so much more normal looking now with vaginal temping, although I don't like doing it that way. Off to acupuncture again tonight. CD8 today and monitor bumped me up to High, right on schedule. Hubby informed me that he can't do it everyday, only every other day, lol. I'm still gonna try though, lol. I have acu on Friday as well but might cancel Saturday's appointment since that could very well be O-day. I'll have to ask the doc.

Apparently girls are more common with IVF as we're the stronger ones

Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
I don't really know Beth, I have joined a yahoo group that's specific to my condition and most of them only had one egg implanted due to the risk. Selective reduction scares me! Don't know if I could do it to be honest! I guess I will find that sort of thing out at my consultation. Glad the vaginal temping is working out better for you, I know it's not pleasent but just look how stable those temps are!
Toffee really??? I won't tell BF that! lol! He has his heart set on a boy, has had the name picked out for months! lol! Of course he would love a little girl really but there are so many girls in his family that I know it would be extra special for him to have a boy. That sounds awfull! I don't mean it to sound that way! lol!

MEL, that does sound horrible hun , haha, just kidding!!! I sooo know what you mean though. Hope you have a boy, we're in the same boat, 1 boy - 6 girls in 5 years on DF's side of the family, so we are hoping a boy, but a girl would be great too

Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
mel, it's fine that BF wants a boy! MrG wants a boy too! He has 3 neices and I have 2 nephews so we figure either way, one set of grandparents will be slightly disappointed, lol.
Ok, so maybe they only do implant one fertilized egg for women with your uterine condition. If more than one egg is fertilized however, do you have the option of freezing it for possible implant later if needed? Something to research/ask/think about.

Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
Yes we do have that option. I think it's Ł350.00 for freezing and 5 years storage so if there are any suitable we will hopefully be doing that!
Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Mel, I'm so sorry to see the found you. I know how much you were hoping for this cycle, and we were all hoping right there with you!!! You'll be able to do this IVF and will cope just fine. You know we'll here every single step of the way. I'm so glad that you have that ornament, what a beautiful gift.
Beth, it's great that the vaginal temping is working better (even if it is annoying to do!). I'll be thinking of you as you gear up for O - keeping everything crossed of course for you!!!
Galaxy good luck with the ferning! I didn't realize it would be so small. It's amazing how all this works. Can I ask how long you've been ttc this time (sorry, I am still catching up with all of you!). Good luck to you hon!

About three days leading up to ovulation the pattern of the saliva changes from just little dots, to a ferning pattern.
Sapphire, to be honest we haven't had enough bd'ing sessions to say we have been seriously trying and my cycles have been a bit up in the air. It's only really this month that I have started charting again and aiming to bd around ovulation so it's early days for me. The only reason I get frustrated is because I feel my PCOS and endometriosis are maybe causing a few problems, not necessarily with fertility as we haven't been trying long but with my pelvic pains etc. I am starting to experience similar problems to before having the lap in 2006. arrived today though so I'm on a brand new cycle and have all the kit to chart a bit better this month. Have you got any plans to have a scan soon honey?
WhiteLily, don't panic too much sweety about multiples and reduction because in the UK they tend to put no more than two back because of the massive risk of complications plus there is little evidence to show that putting more embryos back increases your chances of getting pregnant. (Only saying what I've been told!) Just wait and see what they say, they are the experts hun and will give you good avice.
Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
Oh gosh I seriously feel really bad now, I am so sorry Mel I just didn't think It is true to say though that IUI and IVF babies tend to be girls though.
Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
Oh no hun! Don't feel bad. When I first found out we were doing IVF I was secretly hoping for twins, that was before I found out more about my condition though. It was only when I joined the Yahoo group that they told me I will probably only have one egg implanted, which does make sense really when I think about it!
Galaxy it says in my info from the IVF clinic that they NEVER put more than 2 eggs in! lol! I think they are so much more carefull in the UK than they are in other parts of the world! Sorry you seem to be having trouble with your cycle again hun. Have you been back to the doctors about the PCOS and endo? Sorry if you have already said, I can't remember!
Sapphire it's great to see you posting around here! I have missed you hunny!

Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
what mel, you don't want to be the next Octo-Mom? Gawd, I hate that woman and feel what she and her doctors did was morally reprehensible. Never ever should have been allowed to happen. Speaking of multiple births, I heard earlier this week of quadruplets in my area. Off to serach the news for, well, news.

BethG wrote:what mel, you don't want to be the next Octo-Mom?
Haha!!! No, I don't think my little half uterus would stretch that far! Saying that though, if a normal uterus can stretch big enough for EIGHT babies then my little half uterus should handle quads, right? LOL!
Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
*laughing at mel* Glad to see your sense of humor is back! Didn't you say though that one woman on the yahoo group is pregnant naturally with twins? Anything is possible! Just believe in it!
I *swear* I heard a news report of local quadruplets and can't find 'nuthin' about them in the paper or tv news websites. Maybe I was imagining it all......
Nika! Thanks for the chart compliment! Just taking it easy right now....nothing to get excited about yet.

Yep, she's actually had them now! A boy and a girl! You are right, anything is possible! I think there have been a few sets of twins from that group!
Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Your Chart...Part 2!!!!!!!!!!
*smacking Toffee* Yeah, Toffee is old, right, uh huh.
Acu dr. was excited by my "new" temps. She's silly sometimes, lol. Also have a little gasp of excitement when she was putting needles on my belly. I hadn't seen that i have a bruise there from last time. "I love bruises!" she said. Seeing her Friday but cancelled Saturday and next Monday. She told me her other acu fertility patients are making progress as well and one had a ! But she couldn't take full credit because the other acu doctor was working with her as well. I need to go study past charts, but I'm not sure if I ever really can say I ovulated 2 months in a row...soon to be three!
Regarding girl babies from IUI/IVF....neighbors who did IUI: twins, one girl, one boy. Our dental hygentist (her hubby is an old racing buddy of my hubby's): twin girls. I know they had help, IUI I think.
