Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
Hey Sapphire, welcome to the mama thread! This is a great place to find out all kinds of things as that cute little Ainsley starts growing. It is always nice to ask about something you think is totally strange that your baby is doing, and find out here that everyone else's babies have gone thru that stage and it's really normal. Or what to do with that horrible diaper rash. Or you don't know what is causing her to act like she is. All kinds of important things like checking to make sure they don't get a hair wrapped around their toes! If you need a little encouragement, or just someone to vent about your baby to. And we all love to hear about the progress everyone is making as they grow up. I personally don't htink I would have made it thru the first year without being able to come here!

Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
Sapphire I am so delighted to have you post here! Ainsley is just precious and YES we are all here for you for anything you might need. I'm so sorry you have been feeling low, hopefully everything will be resolved and it will all be ok. It's so easy to make mistakes when you aren't sleeping properly, so don't feel bad, it will all work itself out somehow.
Chrisb- LM is not jumping properly either. In fact she isn't all the coordinated to begin with aside from running full speed ahead. She doesn't even really dance without encouragement, and she isn't talking a ton. She just started putting some words together like, "No, down." (when she is climbing something she shouldn't). She also says, "Moe Wa wa" (more water). I was worried about her speech, but honestly, I saw other kids her age at church, and they are all about the same level as her, some are a bit more advanced, but I am trying not to worry. Emy is so adorable, I love hearing stories about her fun personality.
Dolly's momma- How is Lucy doing these days? She is so cute.
Lou Lou- Has Owen's sleeping gotten any better? How are you doing?
Sparkles- How are you feeling honey? Kyrah is so cute, so darling that you have her in gymnastics!
Leanne- Good to hear from you hun. Cloie is just a doll face! It's so cute to see them develop their own little attitudes and personalities.
Angel- How are the bubs doing? Is everyone feeling okay now?
Georgi- Hope Theo is doing okay!! He is such a handsome fellow! Gotta love our Hunglish babies!
Skyllar- How is Kian doing? Is his German coming along well? I wish my DH would teach LM Hungarian, but he's so darned lazy!

Ok. I got Lucy to do some jumping this afternoon. At 19 months she officially gets an inch to two inches off the ground with both feet.

Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
Wow, it is so great to see all the updates from everybody!!! After a super busy time before and around Christmas and the start of a new semester, I finally had time to read everybody's posts.
Leanne -- Cloie is such a cutie! Can't believe how fast she is growing!
Sparkles -- This is so great that Kyrah is in her big girl bed and is using the potty. What a big girl you have!! We are thinking of transitioning Kian into a big boy bed but are not sure if we should do it before the baby comes or shortly after as a big boy special thing??? Not sure on that one...
Angel -- that is so cute about Tia-Li giving speeches. I caught Kian talking and talking to the cat yesterday, lol.
DM -- sorry about the eating issues. Lucy is so adorable - loved her pics at the playground.
Mommabear -- Great that Isaac is in his big boy bed, too. That is fantastic! Sorry about the difficulties with the eating. And no, I haven't had Kian at the dentist's yet.
Lou Lou -- so sorry that you are going through the no food phase, too. No fun. Hope that everything else is going great.
Tiff -- Yay for LM's two word phrases. That is so much fun!
mscherry -- Glad to see you around; I missed you. Hope that Jadah will get to like school again and that you'll find a job soon. Jayden sounds like so much fun.
Chris -- Kian cannot jump yet either. He has been doing the motion, bending the knees, but then he doesn't jump, just kinda steps forward.
Sapphire -- so great to see you here. Ainsley is adorable!!
Hi to everybody else!!
As for us, we are doing great. Kian is so much fun to be around, but can totally test my patience. He is in the 'me, me, me' phase wanting to do everything by himself; like putting shoes on, cutting his food, getting dressed - and of course he can't do it yet and so everything just takes forever sometimes, lol. He is eating EVERYTHING. He loves any kind of fruit and veggie (raw and steamed), and eats everything we eat (tofu, chicken, potatoes, pasta, rice), he tried Mexican food and Indian food (not spicy of course), finally started drinking milk, loves cheese, bread - really anything (can't think of anything he doesn't like). It is great that he is such a good eater. He uses the spoon and fork so well and drinks out of a regular cup. His speaking is also coming along great. He speaks mostly German, but says 'hi' and 'bye' in English. He puts together two and three word sentences and talks about everything (little chatterbox).

Thank you everyone, I feel much better now knowing the kids are in all different stages of jumping around these ages. I guess her gymnastic class kids are justa bit ahead of her.

Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
For the last couple days, every time Lucy dirties a diaper she has been pulling her pants down right afterwards. We have been talking about the potty with her, I don't know if it means she is understanding that, or if it's just a coincidence! If it's not a coincidence I don't know what to do to encourage it...I suppose I should get her a potty.......

Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
Wal-mart has a great deal on 3 in 1 potties, DM! I got LM a pink cushy 3 in 1 potty. The seat is soft so it's not cold. You can also take the insert out and put it onto the toilet to help them feel more comfortable on the big toilet. Also The lid closes, and you can use it as a stool for washing hands or brushing teeth at the sink. It was about 15 dollars at walmart, I LOVE it.
LM is still only pretending to go potty, but she says the word potty now, and she knows what it means. She still isn't quite ready, she doesn't understand the correspondence between her urge to go and the potty yet. I don't know how you feel about this with Lucy, but I leave the door open when I go potty, and I tell her I am going potty. She even sits down on her toilet while I am going potty. So that does help them understand what it's all about.
That's great that Lucy is recognizing that she goes potty or poo poo in her diaper. That is the first step. LM isn't doing that yet.

Owen has been pulling on his crotch when he wets. He can say "tee tee" and "poo poo" but I'm not sure how much he really understands. He is very interested in the potty but I'm like you DM and not sure how to bring it all together in his little mind. We are getting a potty this weekend. I will have to look at the one you bought Lilly Blossom.

Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
Oh my gosh you guys. So funny story only a mother could love
LM was taking her bath tonight, and she farted SO long and loud. She laughed at the bubbles that came up and cracked up about it for a minute straight. Then she started making farting noises with her mouth and laughing and laughing. I started to make the noises and she just totally lost it. She just thought it was hysterical. I still laugh when I think about it! I know I'm totally immature and teaching her bad manners, but oh my goodness it was a funny 10 minutes!

Lucy woke up really early so I tried to get her to snuggle with me and go back to sleep. Instead she started imitating her daddy's snoring noises lol.
We went to walmart last night and got one of those pottys. Lucy knew exactly what to do with it from the moment it got out of the box.......

Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
Actually she carried the coushy part of the seat around in her mouth awhile too lol. Luckily that is over with now. I do leave the doors open to the bathrooms except when the older kids are home. And I tell her mommy is going potty. She is very into toilet paper too, so I tell her I am wiping my bottom just like I wipe Lucy's bottom to make it clean and fresh. And she likes to flush. All the time. Any time. We have to try to keep her from the potties other times, cause she also likes to splash with her hands - guess I should look at those lid lock thingys. I try to always use the same words. I should start using another term for wet diapers, right now we use squishy, but that doesn't translate well to potty talk lol.
She has been horrible about eating the last couple days. Today she has a slight fever, and two sharp little canine teeth pointing out!

Re: Mothers and babies birth onwards 2010
DM- LM was AWFUL when she was cutting her canine teeth! That was when I freaked out on here about her suddenly not eating. She still is a lot fussier about textures than she ever was before, but she's at least eating again! Hope Lucy feels better soon.

DM -- sorry about little Lucy not feeling well with her canines. Hopefully they will be through soon.
Those potty stories are hilarious!!! So funny. Kian always pretends to use the potty anytime I have to use the bathroom. He just sits on it with his clothes on and pretends. And then when I pull some toilet paper, he does too, crumples it up and throws it in his potty. So funny.

Today I was going to the bathroom and LM came in and started saying potty. She opened her training toilet lid and put her favorite stuffed elephant toy on the potty and said "bye bye Ellie!" Then she shut the elephant in the potty! LOL.

BTW- SKYLLAR, that is so cute about Kian copying you and pretending to use the potty. He is such a cutie pie.
That's what LM does too. Pretends. Sometimes she insists on using her potty, sits down on it for all of 3 seconds while she is fully clothed, then gets up and runs out of the bathroom.
Pretending is a start though, right?
