Re: TTC for over 12 months
Thanks Sparkles! I do remember how much trouble you had when ttc and it's one of those stories that always gives me hope! Your daughter is beautifull!!!!
Re: TTC for over 12 months
Hey White Lily
Glad things are moving in the right direction, sounds like you were a bit like me in that the Dr's arent really sure why you are not conceiving? Correct me if I am wrong as I dont know the whole story.
The thing that kept me going was the thought that as long as I had eggs and my husband had sperm then we would eventually be able to make baby it may just not be the conventional way!!!!
Also forums like this are a godsend especially when you have no one around you that is going through the same thing !

Re: TTC for over 12 months
Yes Shelly thats where we are at for the time being. Every test that we have had done have all come back normal. Bf's motility is 44% and the Dr did say that they prefer it to be at least 50% but because his count and morph are both good then motility wouldn't cause a problem. She said it still shouldn't take over 2 years for me to get pregnant. Of course I still have the dreaded HSG to come which could reveal that maybe my tubes are blocked but for the time being we are classed as unexplained infertility! Very frustrating!!!! Not that I wish we had a problem but it's hard to go through all these tests and still not have any answers, if that makes sense!

Sweet, apparently when they flush your tubes through with the dye, just this alone can improve fertility for some women. That is what I was told by a gynaecologist when I was doing my nurse training.
Re: TTC for over 12 months
Yeah I think thats what happened to me DH sperm was OK, I was ovulating on Clomid but still no baby.
However I conceived the same month that I had the HSG, definatley cleaned my tubes out!!!

Re: TTC for over 12 months
Yeah I did read that the HSG can actually increase your chances but one study said this was only when the dye was oil based. In my form it says the dye is water based! I just hope my tubes are clear and that it doesn't hurt too much!!! I am a big wimp when it comes to things like this!
Re: TTC for over 12 months
My Dye was water based (I think!!)
It dosent hurt too much, the best thing is too relax, easier said then done I know!!!
I remember feeling really bloated afterwards but no pain during the procedure.

Re: TTC for over 12 months
Well on the website I found with that info it said that oil based isn't really used that much anymore so maybe that was just coinsidense when they did the survey? *shrugs* Who knows!
It's good to hear that it didn't really hurt you too much! You hear such mixed things about the HSG, some say no probs at all and others say it really hurts! I just hope I am one of the lucky ones!

Re: TTC for over 12 months
Hi everyone!
I'm joining White Lily and Leeaman. (hi girls!! ) We've been for 23 months now. Dh was diagnosed with low morphology (<2%) and we've done IUI with clomid 3 times with no success. He had 2 varicoceles removed in August which may or may not help. We will do the first post surgery SA in November. Sometimes it takes up to 6 months to see a change for the better. If the surgery did not imporove morph then we are limited to IVF with/ICSI. We had the option of doing IUI with injections, IVF or the varicocele surgery and DH chose the surgery. He wanted to feel like he was helping and didnt want to see me go through the injections and all the risks associated with them. If the surgery worked we will probably try IUI with injections.
Thanks for the encouraging stories girls! Your little ones are all so adorable and bring us so much needed hope! Sparkles, your story is one that always inspired me!

Re: TTC for over 12 months
Hey all! *waving to everyone* I see some familar names and figured out a few too.
Anyway, many of you know me, but for those who dont -- TTC for 15 cycles now, approx. 13 months. Hubby is fine. Me: ovulation issues in addition to a blocked left fallopian tube. Seeing an RE for an initial consult on Oct. 31st. Getting ready to start my 7th cycle of Clomid, now at the maxium 150 mg dose, but now AF won't show (I'm late!) and I fear I'll have to take Provera to start it. Supposed to have the CD3 fsh blood test and (yet another) progesterone blood test on CD18 ....if I ever start a new cycle. I just had my 39th birthday so now I'm feeling more panicy about the whole TTC process.
leeaman...you know I'm going to be checking out your Diary!

Re: TTC for over 12 months
leeaman, you should have just asked me for my email! But all is good and I'm very interested in your Diary.
So in an effort to make this forum more attractive to other ladies who are TTC, I'm going to try to post here more often......except I have nothing much to say right now, lol!
Still waiting for AF to show. It's CD30 now and I'm 4-5 days late. On Monday I will call for meds.
Although I was really really hoping to be pregnant by Christmas, I really thinking we might have to wait until January to start anything. Since that other dr. gave me the diagnosis of "infertility," my insurance co. is now rejecting my claims. So with 2 blood tests, 1 dr. consult, and 2 more blood tests this coming cycle -- all out-of-pocket, I'm going to use up all the funds we had available for the RE. And then the RE's consult on top of it all. So, I just don't know what to do. Starting January 1st, we'll have our "Family Supplemental Fund" available again for the year for stuff not covered by ins. so we'll have some money to play with again.
Gotta go....I see my boss is coming in.....!

Re: TTC for over 12 months
Wow!! Beth that sucks!! here in TN they do not require infertility to have any coverage at all, but the insurance company we are with right now cover diagnostics but no treatment, is this what they are doing for you? I ask because infertility is not really a cause of the infertilty maybe they will cover more tests? to diagnose you with somting. unless they are causing it as 'unexplained' That sucks that insurance companies are this way, I am sorry sweety! Wishing you some ovulation luck!!

Re: TTC for over 12 months
Ashley, you're exactly right. The ins. covers all the diagnostic stuff which is why I got 2 blood tests covered, hubby's SA, and even my HSG. But then that dr. gave me a diagnosis, so now the ins. won't pay. I didn't even know about it until I got the rejected claims. I was ok that his consult wasn't covered, but I was shocked when I got the reject on the bloodtest. I'm sure the RE is good about working around insurance loopholes. I hope.
