Hey everybody!
I have a dilemma right now. Thane's first bday is Jan 18th. Blaine's 9th birthday is the 21st of Jan. The thing is, I want Thane to have a very special 1st birthday! Blaine has had 8 special birthdays right now, and like it or not he is not an only child anymore. I am trying to figure out how I can have Thane's super special bday and also havea birthday for Blaine too close to it. I am looking at the Saturday before Thane's bday, we could take him bowling and have a party at my house with the family OR the Saturday after (but the cousins wouldn't be there if we waited til this day). Ray wants to have their birthdays on the SAME day, on Thane's birthday! Well, of course I DON'T wanna do that! He said we could have Thane's first then Blaine's and I was like YEAH RIGHT! Then I would be mad at blaine cuz every 5 seconds it would be "IS IT MY TURN YET?" And i would have a psychotic episode that he was trying to rush Thane's birthday!!!! What the heck should I DO!?  I hate it that all our bdays are in ONE WEEK! I just don'tk now what to do cuz Blaine's feelings will be hurt if he doesn't have a big party, but why can't he understand that this is a HUGE bday for Thane!? AND HE has been number one for 8 years it would be nice to let Thane have his time to shine to be number one for a change. UGH!!! I don't know what to do...;please help!!!

Hey Ginny!
Will Blaine's party be a family party or will it be for friends only? Could you have
Blaine's party the night before and have Thane's on his actual birthday? I'm just thinking that if you do his party first he wont worry you about when his party will begin......

I TOTALLY understand! I wouldn't want Owen to have to share his birthday either.
Do you know that when I was pregnant one of my DH's sisters asked me to try not to go into labor too early so that maybe our kids birthdays would be close enough together that we could have joint parties to save money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind you, her child is SIX years older than Owen!!!!!

don't you just love family?

Haha!!! Thanks, Lou Lou! lol

I actually forgot that Blaine will be home on his ACTUAL birthday that Wed, so I am thinking NOW of maybe meeting at Ray's grandmas house and having Pizza then taking Blaine bowling which is very close by! He loves to bowl, so maybe that will work out. I will send out invitations like I did for Thane just so Blaine won't get jealous but it won't be as big of a party. And its only family, not friends. We have done the friends parties at Chuckee Cheesea nd it was over $300!!!! So, needless to say we are not doing that this year.

Anyway, thank you for your input. Sorry, i just needed to vent! lol

Yeah I think deffinately sepearate bday parties so that neither has anything taken away from the other. Also when they get older, they will probably want to do some birthdays together anyway but as it is now,you want them to be unique and special. Also that avoids the jelousy problem with them maybe fighting over cake/candles/presents and attention.

One thing that I have learned is trust me, no matter how special you make it, your one year old cares alot less then you do about it. In fact I am sure he would think it was wonderful to share with his big brother. On the other hand your older one will not love sharing so much. If you have set it that way. I would say, either do it combine and say, yeah we are celebrateing two wonderful people, which would really help with the sibling rivalry, or do it completely seperate. But if you are worried about feelings, I would be more concerned about what your oldest wants at this point in time, because your youngest doesn't care. Really, he doesn't.

I love the book "siblings without rivalry". I would recomend it to anyone!
Good luck with that!
