Re: Baking/Cooking Ideas, Tips & Recipe Shares..
OK ladies. The first step to recovery is to admit I have a problem. So, I'm admitting it. I dont' cook for my family anymore. It started off as I wouldn't cook on the days I worked(3 or 4 depending on long or short week). But, I would cook once or twice on my days off. Then I dropped down to cooking once a week on my days off. Now, I don't cook at all. Zip, zero, zilch. I know I'm not suppose to pawn my problems on others, but I think I stopped enjoying cooking when DF got all healthy on me. I'm from Louisiana, I'm used to eating all kinds of "rich" food. Now, I cook my food healthier than my family does, but DF has decided only to eat chicken and fish. OMG!! Who the hell wants to eat chicken and fish every day, not me!!!! Anyway, I do realize that there are more people in the house besides the dumb a@@ health nut(j/k, sort of). So, I want to start cooking way more often for my lovely family. I need some good slow cooker recipes. We don't like foods with lots of "different" ingredients. Please help turn this HO....peless career woman into a housewife!!

Re: Baking/Cooking Ideas, Tips & Recipe Shares..
mscherry, i understand where you are coming from for sure!!!
i have SEVERAL really good crock pot recipes - sum are chicken though!
Roast
Beef or Pork Roast
Red Potatoes
Carrots
Onion
Beef Bouillon
salt and pepper
Water enough to cover the roast
Put all ingredients in the slow cooker and cook all day while u are at work on medium or high
White Chicken Chili
Chicken Breast
White Beans
White Chicken Chili Mix
enough water to cover the ingredients
Same as roast cook all day (cook on Low though).
Barbeque - AWESOME!
Pork Tenderloins or a Pork Roast
SWeet Baby Rays BBQ sauce
Buns
Put the pork roast, add bbq sauce (1/2 bottle), and water to cover the roast, in the slow cooker all day on low to medium. When you get home move the roast to a casserole dish and shred it up like you do for sandwiches. add the rest of the bbq sauce and bake at 350 for like 10 minutes. puton a bun or eat by itself
I will think of more later

Ty Ginny. I think I might try the bbq one, but with a beef roast instead. I'm just not sure if everyone else in the house likes bbq beef sandwiches. Oh, well, if not, more for me!!!

I found my new favorite chocolate cake recipe along with a chocolate buttercream frosting recipe. We took it to a 4th of July bbq yesterday, and they devoured it. I'll post it later along with a picture of it. I hope you all had a great 4th of July!!

Re: Baking/Cooking Ideas, Tips & Recipe Shares..
This is a great crock pot recipe:
Beef tips or 1 pound Beef Sirloin cubed
1 packet of dry onion soup mix
1 can of cream of mushroom soup (I use fat free)
1 jar of sliced mushrooms (you can leave these out)
Just a little bit of water
Put everything into crock pot and mix thoroughly. Cook on low all day
Cook your choice of pasta noodles. I like large egg noodles and serve the Beef mixture over the noodles.
My husband LOVES this and it's super easy!

Here is the cake recipe. You gotta wait for the picture since I'm at work right now. As a note, I used miniature choco chips instead of regular, and it definitely a great idea.
INGREDIENTS
• 1 (18.25 ounce) package devil's food cake mix
• 1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
• 1 cup sour cream
• 1 cup vegetable oil
• 4 eggs
• 1/2 cup warm water
• 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a large bowl, mix together the cake and pudding mixes, sour cream, oil, beaten eggs and water. Stir in the chocolate chips and pour batter into a well greased 12 cup bundt pan.
3. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until top is springy to the touch and a wooden toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool cake thoroughly in pan at least an hour and a half before inverting onto a plate If desired, dust the cake with powdered sugar.
For the frosting, I suggest letting it chill in the fridge for like 30 minutes while the cake is cooling just to firm up the frosting a bit.
INGREDIENTS
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/4 cup shortening
• 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 cups confectioners' sugar
• 2 tablespoons milk
• 1 cup hot fudge topping
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
1. Cream together the butter or margarine with the shortening.
2. Sift the cocoa with the confectioners' sugar and add to the creamed mixture. Mix together adding 1 tablespoon at a time of milk to keep mixture smooth. Don't add more than 1/4 cup of milk.
3. Add the hot fudge topping and the vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.
